Dawn
I’ve read forecasts for snow and cold all over the country, and we are forecast to get some of it. We really need any precipitation we can get, so I’m not going to complain. And while it’s been cold here, our cold has been nothing compared to the reports from the Midwest and Canada.

Did you say Snow?

Silver, Marble, and I are relaxing in front of the fire.

We’re forecast to get a foot of snow with subzero temps and high winds. Sure hope the power doesn’t go out!
I hope your power stays on. We lost power for 14 hours one winter. We had to jury-rig connections to an old generator to heat up the house. I’ve thought about having a backup generator installed, but good ones are expensive. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim. We looked at whole house backup generators, but they were very expensive. We bought a portable one that will power the circuits for the furnace, refrigerator, freezer, and the wi-fi.
That’s good.
Hahaha that is the same look when linda read me the forecast for south Texas…then I saw the forecast for home and that took a bit of the sting off
Yep. It looks like it’s freezing quite nicely up at the Haunt. We have received 3/100 of an inch of precipitation so far. Thanks, Brian.
That roaring fire works for me, Tim. I like one in-person or online…warms the heart either way!
Thanks, Bruce. Stay warm.
It is definitely going to be a make a fire in the slow-burning store kinda day tomorrow. Will be a feels like -35C. We aren’t expecting as much snow as others – mind you, snow usually means less cold but hey. It will be what it will be!
Those kitty-cats know where to hang out!
Que será, será
Whatever cold and snow there be, will be
While the future’s dumping cold and snow on thee
They song is simple, see
Que será, será
Keep that stove burning slowly and stay warm. Thanks, Dale
Hahaha! Wood is burning but alas, I must go out there and get more wood! I should have done it when I got home last night but all I wanted to do was get in, put away my stuff, have a cocktail and sit! So today, I pay.
Love your lyrics 🙂
I know exactly how getting out to do a seemingly simple task like bringing in wood is like an insurmountable task after getting home and needing to unwind.
Well, not only did I bring in a good quantity, I walked for one hour! It was gorgeous out there!
Your unwinding paid off.
Indeed! The temps “warmed up” to a “feels like” of -30….
What we here are experiencing now reminds me that the mountains can often keep the worst stuff on the other side of the mountains. Right now West Texas and adjacent SE NM are experiencing the scary cold wind chills, freezing rain and ice, and are expecting snow soon. Nasty mix of stuff.
I’ve been getting a gentle rain for several hours. We may get a little snow tonight and tomorrow, but nothing like was being forecast a couple of days ago.
Bless the mountains for this go-around.
One of the advantages of living in a rain shadow is that it is dry. On the other hand, we’ve had a drizzling rain that has amounted to only 3/100 of an inch according to our rain gauge. I think I can call that shadow rain. Thanks, Susan.
We were moaning about the rain (due 50mm) but we’ll shut up now.
50mm of rain causes flooding out here. A couple of years ago, parts of the city got 50mm of rain, and it filled the flood control channels, flooding downtown. Stay dry. Thanks, couriers.
Oh, we dd have flooding in the area. This 50mm was after 200mm earlier in the week 🤪
We would need an ark if we got that much rain. That’s more than we get in a year.
Nothing like a warm fire.
The kitties couldn’t agree more. Thanks, Shey.
Awww. They can come snuggle up at mine any time.
The would love that.
awwwww.
A lovely looking fire, Tim. I’ve been reading about the cold and snow in Canada and parts of the USA. South Africa’s had a cool summer (comparatively) and we seem to be going into autumn early. Ugh! I hate winter.
Thanks, Robbie. Cool summers are nice. I’m not fond of winter, either. Although winter has been tolerable so far.
I started hoping for rain towards the end of last year, our local reservoir is pretty low. Now, I’d be quite happy to see a bit of sunshine ☁️🌨
There’s snow on the way too, again!
Sigh.
There’s always a trade-off, it seems. Thanks,
Brian.
Your cats look comfortably tucked in a plenty warm. It got cold here, 17 degrees under clear skies in the morning, but we are glad not to have the severe weather.
We are very dry here this winter, even with the deluge we had back in December.
The cats are especially snuggly when it’s cold. We have about an inch of snow and 21 degrees this morning. Thanks, Lavinia.
I hope you get the precipitation and aren’t too cold ~ back in the PNW, we are hoping for more snow-pack, but from my friends back home it looks like we will not get what we wanted…
We got a bit of rain and have around an inch of snow this morning. Still, only 0.65 inches of precipitation for January. Thanks, Randall.
That fire looks sooo cosy Tim. Don’t think we need it over here though, the temperature forecasts over the next few days here are upwards of 43c!
That’s hot enough to bake your biscuits. We have an inch of snow this morning. Jake was out running around and romping in it. He’s happy he’s not hanging out with you in your heat. Thanks, Miriam.
Next place we move will have a real fire place. Can’t rely on the grid anymore. xx
True. You need a good fire place. Thanks, Resa.
xx
The fire looks great .. stay warm
We’re trying to stay warm. The kitties think we keep the house too cold. Jake thinks it’s warm. Thanks, Julie.
Ah one pleased pooch then.
