    • Jake used to go out and smoke with one of our evaluators who’s Italian, but she left, so Jake doesn’t have anyone to go on smoke breaks with. Thanks, couriers.

    • I got the shot with a little help from my photo editors. Jake actually sat under the “ No Smoking” sign. Thanks, Cindy.

    • It sure is. Jake, the rebel dog, had to have a smoke after making some grumpy guards in the federal building smile. It’s tough work being an emo dog. Thanks, DJV.

  1. I chuckled at Sasha. She’s doing a good impersonation of me this morning, not wanting to get out of bed. Then I laughed out loud at Jake and the no smoking sign. I hope he’s not having withdrawals after his smoker friend left.

My dad smoked heavily (died with emphysema at 57). After he had to stop working, my little Pekinese took to following him around outside, and sitting on his footstool inside. She seemed to beg for his cigarettes, especially outside. So one day he put one out and she grabbed the butt and ran off with it. She didn’t chew it, but sat there sucking on it. Soon she was totally hooked, and begged inside too, sitting on his footstool giving soft barks for him to share a cigarette.

Finally the doctor told him “You’re going to die. Quit now and you might live a little longer.” He quit cold turkey. That meant the dog did too. She was as miserable as him. She sat and whined at his ashtray for weeks. At least he had the dog to commiserate.

    Hugs.

    • PS: He never gave her a lit one. The woman next door was also a smoker. The dog followed her when she visited. She accidentally gave the dog a cigarette that wasn’t all the way out. The dog patted it with her paw until it was out.

    • That’s impressive. Nicotine is said to be as addictive as heroin, if not more so. Jake had to have a smoke after making the grumpy guards in the federal building smile. Thanks, Teagan.

  2. For a moment there it seemed like Jake had one of those toys that looked like a cigarette in his mouth! It’s his leash!🤦‍♀️😎
Your cats seemed nice and cozy!

    • Being he’s a dog, he throws them on the ground, but then so do most smokers. Being a human, I pick them up in little green poop bags. Thanks, Geoff.

    • Jake the rebel catching up since he can’t go out and smoke with one of our staff who left. Thanks, Lavinia.

  3. Should have shopped in a bunch of feet alongside the rebel pup – that is my go to pun whenever I see a sign preventing activity within a certain number of “feet” – yeah, Linda usually slaps me when I say it hehehe.

    • I have photos of other people smoking under that sign fron when our office was downtown. Thanks, Brian.
