Brain In The Branches

The 52nd Annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta started this morning. A lot of balloons flew over the house.

Sasha slept through all the hissing from the burners.

Herman’s lovely Red Devil.

Peacock facing the sun.

  1. Haha. I got a kick out of the tree having a yellow ponytail. No colors here yet, but the highs are still in the low 90s.

Those are fantastic photos of the balloons! Wow, you really got to see a lot of them. That never happened to me when I lived in Rio Rancho. I didn’t know about the big brain one. Actually there were several in your pics that I had not seen before. Delightful post, Tim. Hugs.

    • The brain is new this year. Frankenstein might be new, too. We live across the river, a little north of the balloon field, so a lot of balloons fly over our house when the breeze is out of the southeast. Thanks, Teagan.

  2. It’s always very impressive to see the photographs of all those wonderful balloons. I’m sure seeing it live must be a great experience.

  3. Very colorful. These would be fun to see someday. Hot-air balloons move very much like a snoozy cat: they get where they are going when they get there and not a moment sooner. Unless there are zoomies.

    • They do go the way the wind blows them; however, they can navigate very well since the wind changes direction every 100 feet or so over the valley. Thanks, Brad.

  4. Another selection of the great balloon fiesta. Carer Joanne will love these when she she’s them, Tim. I think the brain one is a balloon winner, albeit close thing with the butterfly. Buit Sasha is tops! ♥

  5. Those are some spectacular balloons, and quite a variety! I like the brains.

I can see the color creeping into your countryside. I think you get a bit more than we do. Moon should be in the west this evening.

  6. I have returned.

The balloons are wonderful. People sure have a lot of fun designing their balloon.

I like them all to varying degrees, but there is a clear favourite. 4th from the bottom, the one that looks like a Persian rug is stunning.

My tree’s ponytail is lovely. It was perfect for balloon day.

Now, as fall is upon my tree, she considers more transitional styles.

Next will be the yellow fall bouffant. Then in the later fall, the shag cut. For winter, a spiky all over mohawk effect, known as the sporadichawk.

Great post, Tim, thank you! xx

  7. Think I saw that Red Devil in your shots from last year – still my favorite, although that brain is giving it a run for the money being the number of times that is how emails to me are often addressed ha.
