The 52nd Annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta started this morning. A lot of balloons flew over the house.

Sasha slept through all the hissing from the burners.

Herman’s lovely Red Devil.

Peacock facing the sun.

Resa’s Tree with a yellow ponytail.

Very cool!
The pacific air show, day 1 of 2, was today but viewing was limited due to dense fog.
An air show in fog could get pretty exciting. Thanks, Leenda.
Haha. I got a kick out of the tree having a yellow ponytail. No colors here yet, but the highs are still in the low 90s.
Those are fantastic photos of the balloons! Wow, you really got to see a lot of them. That never happened to me when I lived in Rio Rancho. I didn’t know about the big brain one. Actually there were several in your pics that I had not seen before. Delightful post, Tim. Hugs.
The brain is new this year. Frankenstein might be new, too. We live across the river, a little north of the balloon field, so a lot of balloons fly over our house when the breeze is out of the southeast. Thanks, Teagan.
Great pictures.
Thanks, Gigi.
It’s always very impressive to see the photographs of all those wonderful balloons. I’m sure seeing it live must be a great experience.
They are impressive in person. Thanks, Herman.
What a fantastic photograph. I can imagine all the cats and other animals being slightly spooked 🙂
The dogs go crazy. Our cats ignore the balloons. Thanks, Janet.
Many years ago on my son’s 16th birthday a friend took us up in his balloon over horse country in Pennsylvania. To see the horses run beneath us was amazing.
You get a great view of the world below from a balloon.
Yes….It is very special.
. YES!!! The fest. I always love when you post pics of the fest.
Thanks, Shey.
That brain balloon would be startling to see among the trees. Nothing to do with Braintree, Massachusetts, I assume?
Probably not. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
Very colorful. These would be fun to see someday. Hot-air balloons move very much like a snoozy cat: they get where they are going when they get there and not a moment sooner. Unless there are zoomies.
They do go the way the wind blows them; however, they can navigate very well since the wind changes direction every 100 feet or so over the valley. Thanks, Brad.
Very fun and colorful captures Tim. It would be a grand treat to see in person, coming right over your house!
You’ll have to plan a trip to Albuquerque sometime to see it. Thanks, Brad.
Wow, time is flying by, seems like yesterday you posted the balloons in the sky, glad to see the annual event is thriving!
Thanks, Tiffany.
Oh wow, what a sight, such a beautiful collection of Balloons… wonderful to see, Thank you Tim xx
Thanks, Sue.
I see the baloonsvhavevthe same registration letters / numbers as aircraft.
They are considered aircraft. Thanks, Geoff.
Another selection of the great balloon fiesta. Carer Joanne will love these when she she’s them, Tim. I think the brain one is a balloon winner, albeit close thing with the butterfly. Buit Sasha is tops! ♥
Thanks, Inchy. Let me know what Joanne thinks.
I will, Tim.
No Joanne yet, but Carer Chloe loved the elephant and Bear balloons.
Those are some spectacular balloons, and quite a variety! I like the brains.
I can see the color creeping into your countryside. I think you get a bit more than we do. Moon should be in the west this evening.
We are starting to get the yellows. I posted the moon tonight. Thanks, Lavinia.
Fantastic!!! I’ll be back tomorrow. Need to hit the hay! xo
I hope you had a good hay ride in your sleep. Thanks, REsa.
xoxo
I always love your colourful balloon galleries!
Thanks, Heidi.
Wow! How fun to see all these balloons! Fantastic photos!
Loved the yellow pony tail too.
Thanks, Nancy,.
I have returned.
The balloons are wonderful. People sure have a lot of fun designing their balloon.
I like them all to varying degrees, but there is a clear favourite. 4th from the bottom, the one that looks like a Persian rug is stunning.
My tree’s ponytail is lovely. It was perfect for balloon day.
Now, as fall is upon my tree, she considers more transitional styles.
Next will be the yellow fall bouffant. Then in the later fall, the shag cut. For winter, a spiky all over mohawk effect, known as the sporadichawk.
Great post, Tim, thank you! xx
Who knows what fall fashion spree your tree will go on? It will be interesting to see. Thanks, Resa.
Yes! I’m all a-tingle. Art, by Mother Nature. xx
Great photos! Would love to see a Balloon Fiesta some day.
You should make plans. Thanks, Rebecca.
What wonderful balloons!
Thanks, Dawn.
What a fabulous display of balloons.
Thanks, Robbie.
Great balloons! Too bad Sasha wasn’t impressed. At least you’ve got brains somewhere – that’s the most important thing
Good point. Thanks, JYP.
Hey Tim … always great to see! Wonderful pics ..
Thanks, Julie.
Think I saw that Red Devil in your shots from last year – still my favorite, although that brain is giving it a run for the money being the number of times that is how emails to me are often addressed ha.
You get the “Brain” treatment. The bane for all Brians. A lot of the same balloons show up every year. Thanks, Brai.. Oops! Brian.
Careful there ha!
