A storm system is moving in and the temperatures are dropping rapidly. The weather widget is forecasting 6 degrees F over the weekend in Corrales, but since it’s always 10 to 15 degrees lower at our house, we may see sub-zero temperatures over the next couple of nights.
Rosencrantz gave me mad dogs when I told him the temperatures were going to drop below zero, and Laurie is making all the stews that feature in our latest fine cooking so we will at least have a variety of delicious hot stews to help us weather the cold. Rosencrantz was a bit of a skeptic when I told him he could have some stew to help keep warm.
Our electricity went out for about 40 minutes or so last night. We used the black-out as a good excuse to run to the store, so we didn’t have to go in the morning.

I made stew also, but only one kind. I think it is supposed to be Thursday before it begins to warm up again. Here’s hoping everyone’s electricity and gas stays on…
i made pot roast on Thursday. It may be time for some of Grandma’s Vegetable Beef Soup.
Most definitely;• )
The digital thermometer, which is part of weather station, and sends readings to a control panel, got down to 3º F this morning, while the analog thermometer hanging next to the digital sensor showed -2º F.
Rosencrantz reminds me a silky midnight… and the stew looks delicious!
Rosencrantz is very soft and silky. The stew was delicious. We already ate all of that one;• )
Love Rosencrantz – he is not easily impressed. Also love the photo of the candles. It is mighty cold and soups and stews help keep us warm, thank goodness for hot food and drink.
Rosencrantz is too cool to be impressed!
