Fashion Monday

Laurie got a whole new set of really cute clothes. I had been pestering her to let me do a photo shoot of her in her new clothes, but we had colds, and with Messiah practice and all the other stuff we have going on, time for a fashion shoot wasn’t available. We finally decided to set up the back-drop and flashes and do a fashion shoot of whatever Laurie’s wearing right before we leave each morning. That way she doesn’t get worn out changing clothes and posing over and over again for one fashion shoot, and we’ll get all the different fashionable combinations she can put together. As you can see in the first photo, Rosencrantz loves getting in on photo shoots.

This was also “Car Crash Monday!” There were two crashes on I-25 on the way in this morning that had traffic all backed up. But that wasn’t enough for people who where hungover from excess of turkey, Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals — there was another, apparently major, crash on the way home that had two lanes on I-25 closed at Paseo Del Norte. Fortunately, the “nanny state” electronic billboards NMDOT has been installing on the freeways warned us about the two lanes closed ahead of us on I-25 in time for me to exit at Jefferson and drive over to Alameda, which had almost zero traffic because all the rush hour traffic was still backed up on I-25.

    • Thanks, Susan. Laurie says hi! We got your invitation to the ANMPAS show. We are planning on attending the opening, and Laurie wanted me to mention she is impressed by the quality of the photos on the card (I am too).

      • Thanks, Tim. I’m looking forward to seeing you and Laurie – in many ways those images are as much yours as mine. And, if Laurie had not called me, neither the triptych nor those images could have come from my camera! It should be fun to see them hanging in the FA Building!

  1. -Good series, suggest to use a low diaphragm number ( f/1.4) and have the model standing a bit further away from the white cloth. This the DOF will be smaller and the bg will be faded, bringing more attention to Laurie
-The pose in the red coat is my fav 🙂

    • Thanks Wolf. As we do more of these sessions, I’ll get more serious about the background. Currently we are working on set up, shoot, then move equipment out of the way quickly. These are quick, fun, “on our way out the door sessions,” so the background is part of the “get it done and get out the door!” aspect in the first series of photo shoots.

      • As I post more quick fashion shots, please comment. Laurie needs feedback from other women on her clothes. My “man” answers to her “woman” questions about fashion don’t always cut it!

      • I would love to but… well I tend to be that friend that my girlfriends take shopping. Why? Because I will say, that makes your ass look big, don’t get it. I expect the same. If we could save each other the embarrassment before we leave the store, it is very helpful. That said, not everyone likes that much honesty. You’re wife is very pretty 🙂

      • Hmmm. Depending on the lens I use and my point-of-view, the photos can lie mildly to greatly about how long legs look, butt size, etc. (ever notice how many models look like they have mile long legs in fashion photos? Either they’re freaks or the photos are lying). Maybe I’ll rethink my request for comments then.

  2. I like all the shots of Laurie and her new wardrobe. What a great idea, and the shots are very clear. Way to go, Tim and Laurie (and Rosencrantz)!
