If The Shoe Fits

Not a cloud in the sky

Jake and I ran into a sassy Roadrunner on our afternoon walk.

He stopped to sun himself for a few minutes.

Ready to pounce

Jake tried on the lost shoe to see if, by chance, he was Dogerella!

  1. Dogerella looks pleased with his find, even though he is still Jake afterwards. 🙂

Looks like a serene day down there by the river. I enjoyed seeing the road runner. The feathers look somewhat iridescent in some of the photos.

    • Roadrunners have iridescent feathers. They are sassy. He went on about his business even though we were 15 to 20 feet from him. Thanks, Lavinia.

    • Jake gets so many kisses from cute, young princesses that he doesn’t need to be no stinking Dogerella.

Roadrunners are bold and sassy. He paid little attention to us until we were 15 feet from him, then he was like, “Excuse me while I sun my back and see what else there is to eat, since you two are too big to whack on the ground and swallow!”

    • We had scads of roadrunners for two years 30 years ago when we had a plague of grasshoppers. After the grasshoppers moved on and the roadrunners ate all the lizards and snakes on the property, they disappeared. I don’t see them much anymore. Thanks, Brad.

  2. I’ve always wondered what those single shoes were doing in the middle of the street, or on a step, saw one on a telephone wire.. now I know. They are dog shoes.

According to Jake…you only need one.

    Nice bird! xx

  3. A road runner? Now you just needed a Wily Coyote with an Acme anvil lol i couldn’t help myself!
    That’s a great picture though!
He blended in well with the brush!
    Jake is looking good!
