Not a cloud in the sky

Jake and I ran into a sassy Roadrunner on our afternoon walk.

He stopped to sun himself for a few minutes.

Ready to pounce

Jake tried on the lost shoe to see if, by chance, he was Dogerella!

Cranes foraging on the edge of the bosque

Dogerella looks pleased with his find, even though he is still Jake afterwards. 🙂
Looks like a serene day down there by the river. I enjoyed seeing the road runner. The feathers look somewhat iridescent in some of the photos.
Roadrunners have iridescent feathers. They are sassy. He went on about his business even though we were 15 to 20 feet from him. Thanks, Lavinia.
That does look like one sassy Runner! Jake struck out on the slipper, but he can still hope to be kissed by a princess.
Jake gets so many kisses from cute, young princesses that he doesn’t need to be no stinking Dogerella.
Roadrunners are bold and sassy. He paid little attention to us until we were 15 feet from him, then he was like, “Excuse me while I sun my back and see what else there is to eat, since you two are too big to whack on the ground and swallow!”
Fun tour today, I love road runners but they rarely hang around!
We had scads of roadrunners for two years 30 years ago when we had a plague of grasshoppers. After the grasshoppers moved on and the roadrunners ate all the lizards and snakes on the property, they disappeared. I don’t see them much anymore. Thanks, Brad.
They’re pretty rare here too.
Ooh, I love the road runner series! I don’t think Jake is Dogerella. I hope he’s not too disappointed.
He’s not. He gets kissed by cute, young princesses all the time. Thanks, Liz.
Ah, I should have known! You’re welcome, Tim.
I’ve always wondered what those single shoes were doing in the middle of the street, or on a step, saw one on a telephone wire.. now I know. They are dog shoes.
According to Jake…you only need one.
Nice bird! xx
Do you remember the hidden shovels I found? I fear that shovel might have belonged to whoever was buried in the bosque. Jake’s a bit morbid. Thanks, Resa.
YIKES!!
Lovely. A nosey roadrunner and the start of an epic search for the other 3 shoes…
The other shoe might have been buried with the owner. That is a mystery shoe. Thanks, couriers.
Jake don’t look like he got boots made for walking.
Nope! He says, “These paws are made for walkin’, and they’re going to walk all over… the bosque!” Thanks, Shey.
Yeah. You tell him he will on much better with his paws.
As you probably know, the photographs of a roadrunner takes me back to the cartoons in my childhood…
A road runner? Now you just needed a Wily Coyote with an Acme anvil lol i couldn’t help myself!
That’s a great picture though!
He blended in well with the brush!
Jake is looking good!
I was hoping to see a coyote, but they are in bed midday. The roadrunners have great camo. Sassy little velociraptors. Thanks, Becky.
They do look like velociraptors! 😊
Shame the dog clog didn’t fit!
Oh well. Jake still gets plenty of attention from young women. Thanks, Geoff.
Jake is ready for anything. Gotta love his spirit!!🤩
That he is. Thanks, Cindy.
🐕🐕🐕❤️
Oh that Jake boy is so cute!
He is. And such a good dog. Thanks, Julie.
He has fitted in so well …
