You know I was a nitty-gritty baby
When my mama would toss me in the cradle
In those old Lava fields back home
It was down around Albuquerque
I was nursing on Wild Turkey
In those old lava fields back home

Rock Wren

Western Kingbird

Curve-billed Thrasher

Señor Thrasher seems to have an underbite.

House Finches

Of course I love all the bird photos. Clever take on the old Lead Belly song.
I thought of it while standing on the old lava flow. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
Gorgeous house finches!!
Thanks, Leenda.
Gee, you sure have some swell birds there.
Laughing at Sasha and Loki? lounging in the shredded box. Did Spunkie-Poo 💋 have a go at it first? xx
Spunk was first to shred the box. Thanks, Resa.
I knew it! Yayayay!!!!
Spunk’s a shredder.
Lol! That’s my boy! Spunkie-Poo 💋!
The yellow on the King bird is beautiful!
For a moment there as I was beginning to read your post I thought it read “ I was a Nitty Gritty Dirt Band fan”
Wow the reading comprehension!
The cats look happy chilling out!
I do like the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Thanks, Becky.
These are great, Timothy! Love the rock wren.
Thanks, Michele.
I enjoyed your selections, especially those mirror image kitties, Tim!
Thanks, Lavinia.
Stunners , abo stunners of bird pics.
Thanks, Shey.
Only a shredded box is a good rest!
Beautiful birdies around and words!
I broke down all their boxes to make room to build the kittywheel, so that’s the only box on the floor at the moment. It’s nice they are sharing it. Thanks, Marina.
Awww… it is sweet!
Beautiful pictures as ever…..Lava fields….a new one for me….and lovely kitties.:)
Thanks, Janet. Technically they are lava flows.
Still fascinating…..
We have ancient volcanoes west of us, and lots of old volcanoes all around the state.
Why does that surprise me..? Fascinating…thank you.
The Valles caldera 40 miles north of us is one of the largest in the US at 22 miles across. Besides lots of lava, it spewed a pyroclastic tuff that eroded into tent rocks. The only other place in the world with tent rocks is in Turkey.
That is interesting. Turkey is a fascinating place – I will have to explore more about the tent rocks.
What a lovely collection of birds you have for us Tim.. and loved the last mirror image! 🙂 Hope those birdies are quick around them 🙂 xx
It’s a good thin you say your eyesight is failing coz imagine what you would see!! Fabulous captures of all the birdies.
Love the poem/riff off an existing tune.
The housecats are chillin’
Thanks, Dale.
Wow, it’s amazing where they take up nesting. Great birds and happy not to find them in the kitties mouths💓
Thanks, Cindy.
Welcome, Tim🩷
Love the song! You are a clever one!
Wonderful photos!
I love it!
Love Rock Wrens – chased them all over the Arizona landscape without success only to wake up the next day with one sitting 5 feet from the RV door. Always love me some Kingbirds, but those T[h]rashers are just plain ‘trasher’ talkers
It’s just your trash talkin’, you’re telling me lies, yeah
Trash talkin’, you wear a disguise
Trash talkin’, so misunderstood, yeah
Trash talkin’, you’re really no good
We don’t have those three birds in the valley. Thanks, Brian.
Great shots Tim!
Thanks, Julie.
