November 2nd is Día de los Muertos. The Day of The Dead. The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. All Souls’ Day. Or whatever you want or don’t want to call it.
Like Phoenix rising From the ashes of lost souls? Or all souls today?
Tim, the costume photos are awesome! And the Phoenix rising is Perfect! Looks like the internet pic! Couldn’t get it to copy here! 📚🎶 Christine
The phoenix is a mythical golden bird associated with renewal and regeneration. Rising from the ashes of its previous life, the phoenix is a symbol of hope, of life and of better things to come, born from the knowledge and experience of difficult times and challenging circumstances.
People really get into the Día de los muertos. The makeup and costumes are great. Although the city has strict guidelines for makeup and costumes people can wear for the Marigold Parade where these photos were taken. Thanks, Samantha.
Scary costumes, Timothy. The cloud looks like a witch’s hat.
I can see that in the cloud now that you mention it. Thanks, Robbie.

WordPress not letting me like again! Grrr!
Not to worry. Thanks, Inchie.
Looks SOOOO good actually.
Thanks, Shey.
I particularly like the last photo. I don’t often see a quarter moon featured.
Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
Talk about celebration! Lovely Timku, too!
Thanks, Dale.
All souls, Tim! That Phoenix with the Moon by its side is amazing!
Thanks, Marina.
It’s a great festival, and plenty colorful! I enjoyed the photos, and your moon shot, too. Rainy up here. No moon viewing.
Not as cold this morning at 22 degrees. Clear ans sunny. The forecast is for 68 this afternoon.
The Timku is quite good, too.
Thanks, Lavinia.
Love your pictures and poem Tim! Great day to celebrate all souls passing.. 💓
Such a fascinating celebration, another amazing ritual of the Southwest. Beautiful colorful photographs Timothy!
Thanks, Holly.
My pleasure!
Almost looks like a witches hat.
Thanks, Brad.
Mexico and the Philippines have very similar customs. All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
The influence is from Mexico on our southern border. Thanks, GeoDel.
I’ve decided people like the costuming rather than the purpose.
People love to dress up. Thanks, Danzig.
Wooooooooow!!!! This is amazing footage! 🤍🖤

All souls today.
Eventually all are souls every day.
The make up is fab, and unique to this celebration.
Thanks for the pics, Tim!
Thanks, Resa.
Wow I’ve not seen anything like that.
The make up and costumes are very much a southwestern US and Mexican tradition. Thanks, Charlotte.
You know I’m all about Día de los Muertos! Loved the shots, impressive ink on one of those subjects.
It never dies. Thanks, Brian.
