Día de los Muertos

November 2nd is Día de los Muertos. The Day of The Dead. The Commemoration of All the Faithful Departed. All Souls’ Day. Or whatever you want or don’t want to call it.

Like Phoenix rising
From the ashes of lost souls?
Or all souls today?

  1. Tim, the costume photos are awesome! And the Phoenix rising is Perfect! Looks like the internet pic! Couldn’t get it to copy here! 📚🎶 Christine

The phoenix is a mythical golden bird associated with renewal and regeneration. Rising from the ashes of its previous life, the phoenix is a symbol of hope, of life and of better things to come, born from the knowledge and experience of difficult times and challenging circumstances.

    • People really get into the Día de los muertos. The makeup and costumes are great. Although the city has strict guidelines for makeup and costumes people can wear for the Marigold Parade where these photos were taken. Thanks, Samantha.

  2. All souls today.
Eventually all are souls every day.
The make up is fab, and unique to this celebration.
    Thanks for the pics, Tim!

    • The make up and costumes are very much a southwestern US and Mexican tradition. Thanks, Charlotte.
