Over hill, out of scale, on a dry and rocky trail, a red ant carries a bee. Over logs, over rocks, a little ant hopscotch, dusk falls and the ant carries on… Then it’s hi hi, he he, here in the bosque, only one ant a silent drone. For wherever he goes, the ant always knows, he carried that bee all alone.
The amazing side of nature we don’t normally see.
Thanks. The tiny side of life.
Crazy creatures, cute song!
Thanks, Tiffany. I think the words fit the origin tune for the Caisson Song pretty well.
Red ants are impressive 🙂
Thanks, Harry!
What a strong little insect. Do those red ants bite?
We have black street ants here in the city. Some unfortunate homeowners have carpenter ants.
The red ants have a powerful, painful sting. A person who is allergic to their sting can die from it.
OMG! Is that how it killed the bee?
I don’t think the ant killed the bee. I’m pretty sure the bee died of other causes and the ant is scavenging.
Ah!
Impressive photography, Sir!
Thanks, Inchcock.
These are great! It got me wondering if ants have that which can be considered a brain. Turns out, an ant colony of about 40k, collectively have as many brain cells as a human brain… but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen some tough ants utilize more reasoning skills than some people I’ve encountered in my life
: )
True. Ants seem to be pretty clever at times. Thanks, Dawn
That’s determination for you 🙂
