Beautiful photo of that trumpet! Looks like an Easter lily. I have many of my special lilies growing in old wine half-barrels now to protect them from gopher tunnel operations. They don’t seem to bother daylilies though.
Thanks, Lavinia. We bought several Easter lilies a couple of years ago and after they quit blooming I planted then in the oriental lily garden, so I think that is one of them.
Since we tore down the houses on one end of the property in 2012, we have had less gophers, ground squirrels and raccoons. I know that clearing off the houses directly effected the raccoons and ground squirrels, but I can’t really say why there are fewer gophers other then we are irrigating much less area on the property, much less often because of water restrictions. The porcupine are now the most persistent pests of wild critters that tend to hang out on the property.
I’ve notice here the gophers like areas that have been watered. Easier to tunnel through wet soil than brick-hard dry clay soil, I guess. I may call our first wine “Eye of the Gopher”. Haven’t seen any porcupines here yet. Nutria, yes.
Great name for a wine. No Nutria here that I know of. I never saw a porcupine on the property until about 4 years ago. Now they come in and eat the tender growth off the rose bushes and break the canes in the process. We also have skunks, but I consider them more beneficial than pests as they eat a lot of destructive insects.

The Nikon equivalent is Nikon 70-200mm f/4G ED VR Nikkor Zoom Lens. Runs around $1400 US. They also make an f/2.8 version of is $1000 more. For a lot of my macro shots I use a 100mm f/2.8 macro. But the 70-200mm is the lens I use the most and it is very versatile. If I could only have one lens it would be the 70-200mm.
Thanks for the info. I’ve been looking and I think your right. I’ll get the 70-200mm. For what I would use it for, it seems to do everything! When I get it, I have to ask you for photography lessons! 🙂
