When I saw the people standing in the openings in the parking structure watching the building burn, the image reminded me of a scene from a Fellini film. Then there’s the three arson investigators that are reminiscent of Van der Weyden’s “Decent from the Cross.” The last two photos are time lapses of sorts. The penultimate photo is the tile mosaic façade of the burned out building at 12:08 PM and the last photo is what’s left of the tile mosaic façade of the burned out building at 5:13 PM.
Off Center & Not Even 
Love the second photo – not the destruction but the image caught. Also, our firetrucks are like a lime-green in Glendale. We’re separate from LA so theirs are red, and ours are distinctly different. Sometimes when things get crazy (we get a lot of fires here), I’ll see a red one but it’s rare.
Thanks, Britt! I have seen green fire trucks around. They may belong to the county or some of the villages in the Albuquerque area.
I have a photo of that somewhere just to prove to someone that the color was different – just have to find it. When I tell folks, they usually don’t believe me. It’s kind of nice to know that it’s not so strange to see them because I started to think I was color blind, lol.
The photos today are interesting and powerful, especially the last one: total destruction. That was very sad. Thanks for sharing.
Beauty in destruction – now you have showed its existance. Are you a journalist?
No. I’m not a journalist. But since we had to evacuate our office and I had my cameras, I documented the fire and then the aftermath. I work in IT, but I also take care of our facility, so dealing with insurance companies and restoration contractors to cleanup the smoke damage has been taking all my time.
