Saturn and Jupiter on December 7th.
I wanted to photograph Saturn and Jupiter every night in December, but so far between cloudy skies and getting out too late because I was doing other things and missed the narrow window between when it’s dark enough to see them and when they disappear behind the trees, I photographed them on the 7th, 8th, 12th, 13th, and 15th. Five out of 15 nights is not my best, not my best at all. They are converging, and currently, the forecast is for clear skies on Monday when Saturn and Jupiter conjoin. I’ll see if the forecast is correct, and I’m planning on photographing them every night for the next six nights.

Moon & Venus rising at 6:00 am.
I woke up at 5:45 am this morning to a sliver moon peeking through the window and Venus hanging out in the trees. I got up, put on shoes, checked the temp, 18º F outside, grabbed my camera, and headed out into the cold and dark. I took a series of photos of the moon and Venus rising over the next hour.

Venus had disappeared and the moon was just barely a sliver as the sun was getting ready to rise at 7:03 am.
The moon had faded to a tiny sliver by 7:04 am.

Last night’s sunset from Beaver Point. I didn’t get home until dark tonight, but we had clear skies.

There was proto-color rising from behind the Sandias when I left the house. I stopped for gas two miles down the road and the clouds had colored up.
