Squirrel Nutkin was jumping around in the trees on my morning walk

We went to Karlsruhe today, where Tristan and Craig had some business to take care of. It’s an hour and a half from Bruchmühlbach-Miesau, but we had a long roundabout way back after the police closed the AutoBahn.

Lovely
Thanks, Shey.
Squirrel Nutkin is such a funny-looking fellow, in an endearing sort of way.
I think he’s adorable. Thanks, Liz.
Exactly! You’re welcome, Tim.
Amazing shots AND you get to visit Tristan. Fab!
Thanks, Resa.
So many images to take in. Most impressed by the peacock/peafowl in full fantail…yet to see that myself in the wild!
All the peacocks I’ve seen out here so far have fanned their tails. One of the peacocks in the elephant enclosure was bothered by a stick on the ground. It fanned its tail and then backed up to step on the stick, and then it stopped that sucker in the ground. It really taught that stinking stick a thing or two. Thanks, Brian.
Nice eclectic bunch of shots!
Thanks, Geoff.
An entertaining series of pictures
Thanks, Robbie.
Wonderful photo diary.
Thanks, Couriers.
So many cool and interesting sights!
That is true. Thanks, Tiffany.
Another great selection of photos from your day, Tim! Nice action shots of the squirrel and peacock.
I looked up Squirrel Nutkin. He does look like one of the Eurasian subspecies of Red Squirrel.

What did the elephant think of the visiting peacock?
The elephants were in a display area we couldn’t see from the overpass. Lots of Eurasian critters are around here. Thanks, Lavinia.
This is another fun and eclectic mix Tim. I especially enjoyed the purple car, flamingos, cheeky statues, and postal delivery bikes.
Some of the American cars I see here are surprising. The one statue was rather proud of her cheeky cheeks. Thanks, Brad.
😄
Must be rare for the AutoBahn to be closed!
How cool the postal peeps ride bicycles!
And that is Ein richtig lila Auto!
They shut down the AutoBahn for accidents. Fortunately, we got rerouted just in time. Tristan said everyone between the reroute and the accident would be stuck until they cleared the accident. They had various types of bikes for the pedalling postal peeps. That was one purple Cadillac.
I figured that would be the reason. Is it true, there aren’t many?
And ugh! Very lucky you were!
Accidents? I don’t know. People drive all different speeds in the sections with no speed limit. So you always have to be alert for slower drivers.
They do say the slower ones cause the most accidents!
