We had cloudy conditions for the total eclipse of the sun in Comfort, TX, today. But the clouds made for much more interesting and dramatic eclipse photos than what one gets under clear skies.

The Buildings on either side of me at totality.

The diamond ring captured on my iPhone

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing. I knew that if I didn’t take pictures, someone with more talent would! Plus, only partial in my neck’o’the woods.
Thanks, Roy. We drove to Comfort, TX from Albuquerque, NM yesterday. We had made our hotel reservations over 2 years ago for the event.
Did you see birds dive-bomb to roost in trees? A couple places said they did.
Great diamond shot!!
Yes! We did. There are so many birds here, that I can here them chirping. They were silent for the four minutes of totality. Thanks, Leenda.
Cool!!!!!!
I got got shots of a Northern Cardinal and a Carolina Wren that we don’t have in Corrales. Merlin identified the chatter of a bluejay and a warbler we don’t have, but did not see those two.
Really? That’s crazy! Do you think they usually live nearby or got all mixed up?
We are in TX, 700 miles from home.
Wonderful photographs, Timothy. Thank you
You are welcome Cheyenne. Thanks for dropping by.
An incredible set of eclipse photos … well done Timothy
Thanks, Ivor.
You’re welcome Timothy
Wish I could have been there and I really enjoy the images. Thanks for sharing “Texas Moments, April 8, 2024.” I’m glad everything went well!
We really missed having you here. It turned out really well. Thanks, Susan.
Not bad Tim, glad you could see some of it. I’m still sorting through ours and may have some eclipse snaps posted in a couple days.
Thanks, Brand.
How wonderful! I am so glad you got to Texas. I’ve been to Comfort!
My son called me and told me how cool it was in Cleveland. An incredible experience for all!
Thanks for sharing!
You are welcome, Nancy. It’s a great experience. Another end of the world and all that gone by.
These are amazing, TImothy. Thank you for sharing them.
You are welcome, Shey. We were wondering about the cloudy conditions, but it worked out well.
Well does not begin to cover it. These are amazing images.
Impressive, like paintings! And isn’t it nice, to be able for making fun of this heavy-loaded c-word again?
Ma-ma-ma-ma, My Corona! Beer, virus, crown, and eclipse. Lots of uses for the C-word. Thanks, Heidi.
🙂
Stunning photos, Tim 😱
Thanks, Chris.
The clouds have perhaps produced a more interesting and atmospheric series of shots. We were relying on you!
The clouds made for much more interesting photos, IMHO. I’m happy I had something interesting to post. Thanks, Couriers
Oh, you certainly do and one hell of a Corona! Wow, Tim! So worth the miles and the early reservations!!!!!!!!
Absolutely. I’m so happy it turned out well. Thanks, Marina.
So am I!!!!!
Wow…!! Glad you were able to shoot this wonderful photographs! I wish I was there…
Wish you were here. You would have had a great time. Thanks, Herman.
You’re so right! I never got around to getting a filter for my camera so all I could do was get the total with my phone… all things considered, I am not totally disappointed.
Your shots are spectacular!
It’s totally cool if you got totality with your phone. I purchased filters in 2011 for an annular eclipse. I have used them several times since then. Otherwise, solar filters are expensive for something you rarely use, unless you are into photographing the sun. Thanks, Dale.
I did. I wish it had been a tad clearer but what do you want from a phone? And that is why I could not justify the purchase 🙂
Very cool and dramatic images Tim. There are times like yesterday when I wish I had a real camera. Oh well.
Thanks, Brad.
As my husband and I were watching the eclipse yesterday, I did wonder what photos you would have for us today. I agree about the clouds making for more interesting images than a clear sky.
Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
I knew your photos would be amazing, did not disappoint! 😍
Thanks, Tiffany.
Great shots, Tim. We had a mostly cloudy period while it was occurring, but the clouds did cooperate for a minute or so. I also agree the clouds provided a cool “frame” for the event.
That’s good you got a little cooperation out of the clouds. Thanks, Bruce.
Wonderful shots!
HOLY MOLEY!!!!!! Now those are some amazing captures! 📸 So cool you got to travel to see it! We only had 40% coverage here in Central California, but I still felt a difference in colorization of my surroundings outside and cooler temperature. I watched coverage of it on television!
That’s cool you felt the cooling. Thanks, Samantha.
Wow, these picturesare amazing
Thanks, Roberta.
I enjoyed seeing the eclipse photos, Tim! It got pretty dark between clouds and eclipse.
It worked out well. Thanks, Lavinia.
Clouds do give an extra layer of uniqueness, Tim!
Thanks, Teri.
Stunning, fantastic, wonderful and lucky you!
Thanks for sharing, Tim! xx
Thank you for the wonderful comment.
xo
Looks surreal!
So cool. I tried to get a pic through my glasses but that got me nada💕
Hard to get pics through those glasses. Thanks, Cindy.
LOVE these! So much. I could only get one pic. Not this good. Great to have these memories
Thanks for posting, Tim!
Thanks, Suzette.
Wow fantastic photos Tim!
Thanks, Julie.
You got some dramatic shots of the Totality Tim! We were just glad to be back from the long trip and didn’t take the time to head anywhere to experience the full darkening – think we got like 97%. Still turned the day to grey and dropped our temps significantly. Glad Comfort worked out for you – never know with the weather these days.
I was happy with the drama from the clouds. Who were thinking they can show the moon and sun a thing or two. We had no traffic issues either way. But there was a traffic jam in Comfort at 4:00 pm on Monday. Thanks, Brian.
Excellent captures of the eclipse Tim.. and what a beautiful setting too, You did well through cloud cover too… I have only experienced a partial eclipse in the UK… but even so, the chill from the absence of even part of the sun was felt. It is a very eerie sensation when it go dark… Even the birds I remember stopped singing..
Great photo shares .. 🙂
Thanks, Sue.
Stellar photography, Timothy.
Lunar meets Solar 🌙🌞
Have yourself a cigar 😎👍
A big old cigar, like Pink Floyd got. Thanks, David.
Am I seeing dark, red sunspots in the 4th photo? These are amazing! My lens made the bits of corona appear as round as the sun, as it had caught the light bending in such that way. Your photos show the true pointiness. 👍
Thanks, Dawn.
I almost missed this altogether. These are amazing photos, Tim. Hugs.
Thanks, Teagan.
