Multiple shots of one hummingbird hovering in front of me on the levee. I get a shot, it moves out of the view of my lens and hovers. I try to move with the hummingbird, focus, and click before it changes direction again. I think it’s a game to the hummingbird to hover and move in and out of my field-of-view.
Animals / Birds / Hummingbirds
That’s an amazing picture! We can barely get a photo of 4 in the same shot.
Hi Robin. It’s a composite of 13 photos of the same hummingbird. The composite is an attempt to show how it looks by freezing frames as it changes position and moves in front of my lens.
Oh, wow! No wonder they look like they were flying in formation.
If hummingbirds could get along with each other long enough to fly in formation, they would be a formidable unit. I see them chasing and bullying birds much larger than they are, and they are always quarreling with each other around our place.
Same here, but they sure give the wasps a wide berth 😀
I love this, Tim. An amazing composite. Yes, I think he’s teasing you. 😺
Thanks, Teagan!

That’s a great photo of your hummingbird! I watched one working the roses up here this morning.
The hummingbirds like our roses. Thanks, Lavinia.
