The flash didn’t fire when I did these photos, leaving the image files almost completely black. I pulled up the exposure and made various other adjustments in Photoshop and came out with surprisingly nice images. There is a hint of green in the hair from the under exposed image, otherwise the color came out well. This is one of the advantages to a full-frame sensor.

Absolutely beautiful. This reminds me of a beautiful Dutch Masterwork coming to life.
Thanks, Juliette. They do have that Dutch feel. I find them hauntingly beautiful!
Beautiful work!! I agree with Juliette.
Thanks, John!
I agree with your description of ‘hauntingly beautiful!’ They are gorgeous!
Thanks, Susan!
Yes, “hauntingly beautiful” are the right words, especially the eyes. You are a master of your craft!
Thanks, Lavinia! I’m not sure I’m a master, just lots of experience.
I looked up the photo of Sharbat Gula from the National Geographic cover, also hauntingly beautiful. Your first photo of the young woman and those striking eyes had reminded me of that world-famous photo. Different circumstances, different moods captured, but both images capture heart and mind. You are good!
When I brought up the exposure I thought about the National Geographic photo. Thanks, Lavinia!
I’m sure you’d rather not hear my–virtual–voice anymore. But I have to say–That is amazingly tender & lovely—And so evocative of being that age that it’s startling.
I’ll listen to your virtual voice anytime. Thanks!
Stunning, the green hint is perfect.
Thanks!
Beautiful young woman and portraits.
Thanks, Janet!
Very beautiful woman and you’ve captured a powerful expression in her eyes.
Thanks!
Great captures! The first one reminds me of a Rembrandt painting.
Thanks!
It always amazes me how an error, like the flash not working, ends up in the becoming something magical. Great shots!
Thanks!
Opps, apparently I can’t write today! 🙂
Wow…stopped me in my tracks…great portrait work!
Thanks, Sharon!
Beautiful portraits.
Thanks, Imelda!
She is a beautiful young lady. You did a great job on her portrait.
Thanks, Bonnie!
Beautiful!
Thanks, Lexa!
Serendipity and art holding hands. Very beautiful images.
Thanks!
Very nice photos indeed! Thank you for visiting my blog today and liking one of my posts. I pray you will come again some time. Blessings, Natalie 🙂
Thanks! And you’re welcome!
OK, now I have to buy a full frame sensor, or be more careful with my settings. These are amazing, especially when told they were under exposed. But isn’t there a way to get rid of the green in her hair? Not that it bothers me at all!
Yes I can remove the green in her hair, but it didn’t bother me and it went with her green eyes, so I left it. If she decides she wants to use the portraits for anything, I’ll clean them up a little more.
[…] to me. But apparently a beautiful woman with a beer is the perfect combination. Number 4 was Portrait of a Young Woman, and Day of the Dead came in at number […]
WOW! That’s gorgeous Timothy.
