Light Bath

Beaker got a light bath from the late afternoon sun streaming through the window on his way to his cage on his stick. He liked the light bath, but he wasn’t so sure about the camera.

    • Thanks, Lavinia! He has us pretty well trained — he rings his bell for service and orders up things like waffles, huevos rancheros, chile con carne, cheese burgers, cake, ice cream and coffee. Makes us think the birds must have birdie espresso bars, ice cream parlors, and burger joints way up in the tops of trees in the rain forest.

      • “…rings bell for service…”. Reminds me of a friend back east who had an Airedale terrier. Rick and I went there for dinner some months after he got the dog. Noticed when we came in the front door, our friend had wind chimes inside the house, by the front door, hanging down at floor level. Our friend was a bit eccentric, so we didn’t think much of it. Later on during dinner, we heard the chimes ring. The dog was trained to ring the chmes when he had to go out and pee.

        • Ringing bells to go outside is better than peeing n the floor. Beaker figured out ringing the bell got him service and attention early on. He has the intelligence of a 2 to 3 year old child, so he is actually quite clever.

  1. In spite of the multitude of photographs available, in spite of way too many blogs with t.m.i. — or, rather, just uninteresting i. — in spite of the current surfeit of cats around,
your posts are always charming, often make me laugh, and just come from what must be a sensibility I chime with.

  2. Beaker really is very pretty — that perfect green and lovely distinct markings. Though I’ve never had a parrot, I made a character of one in my “Three Ingredients” serials, and she quickly became popular. Someone left “cracker” as an ingredient — and that gave me the parrot character named Cracker.
Thanks for the parrot links, Tim. It was a nice way to relax. Hugs! 😀
