The balloons finely flew over our house this morning. They were high and moving fast, but even though I’ve done hundreds of balloon photos over the years, it’s impossible not to photograph them. I decided they look great in B&W and the checkered balloon displays the full range of the gray scale.

Great but why not color?
I have lots of balloon photos in color. You can see some from last year in color here hotoofthedayetc.com/2012/10/10/backlit-balloons/
I’m glad you got some coming your way. The wind seems to be kicking up now – there may not be too many flying days left for this Balloon Fiesta 😦
We didn’t see any coming our way until this morning. Did you get out to the field?
My friend went on Saturday. I had tickets for both of us, but I really overused my arm at the BioPark on Friday and ended up not going. We have another set of friends arriving today, but I am not certain how kind the weather is going to be for the last part of Balloon Fiesta. We’ll see, I guess…
Never seen the balloons in B & W–very interesting–I like it.
Thanks!
Yes, they are interesting photos with lots of contrast and varied shades of gray and wonderful composition. Great job, Tim.
Thanks, Juanita!
What a great blog, you have some really nice photos and prolific photographee. I see you post every day, good for you! Glad I found the blog and thanks for visiting mine! 🙂 Do you sell your photos?
Thanks! I have not missed a day since I started on July 10, 2010 (WordPress is my third platform, which I switched to in May 2011). Yes I sell my photos. If you are interested in prints or files, email me at elcheo@swcp.com, and I’ll send you the break out of options and prices.
I am starting an artist series on my blog helping get their work out there for ppl to see, would you like a feature? Questions are on my blog but they can be adapted to photography too. http://www.cindysartblog.com and you can see if you would like to participate. Your photos are fab 🙂
I’ll have to think about this. You have hard questions. But I like what you are doing!
We can always adapt to different questions 🙂
I do prefer the color versions of the balloons but there is something to be said about the definition that comes out in B&W. Great shots.
