After our trip to Jemez and Gliman Tunnels, I got photos of old adobe houses in Corrales and San Ysidro. The first two are in Corrales and both are doing worse after the major storm that hit Corrales at the end of July. The last photo is of an abandoned adobe house in San Ysidro.

Love, love, love the old adobes! 😉
Thanks!
The old houses show a lot of character. The clouds and the sun about to peek out add alot to the mood of the photos.
Thanks!
So many interesting clouds this season–great photos.
Thanks!
Excellent photos! I had a question regarding these houses. I was considering using them for a photoshoot with a model but I wanted to shoot closer – possibly on the actual property. They are clearly abandoned and there are no “private property” or “no trespassing” signs. What are your thoughts?
I don’t know who owns any of the properties. The house in San Ysidro (last photo) is posted, fenced and walled, so you would have to find the owner and get permission to get on the property. The two in Corrales are not posted, and there were no barriers around them in August. The white house in the second photo probably belongs to the people in the house behind it, so you can probably get permission to do a model shoot there. I would think as long as you stayed outside the green house (first photo), you shouldn’t have problems.
Tim these are the type of houses that get me thinking!! 😉
[…] This is one of the old adobes on Corrales Road that I’ve been documenting for the past couple of years. This abandoned adobe house might be considered historic, so the owner may not be able to tear it down, and may letting it deteriorate to the point it will fall down on it’s own, but that’s all speculation on my part. The north wall caved in a couple of years ago — you can see the north side of this house on my blog post from August 9, 2013 at http://photoofthedayetc.com/2013/08/09/old-adobes/. […]
