Puddle Down

Snowing in the parking lot

We got a half an inch of rain today. I noticed the rain had washed out part of the bridge as I drove over it on the way home this afternoon. After I got home, I changed my clothes, put on boots, gathered up a shovel and a wheelbarrow, walked the quarter mile back up to the bridge, and filled the hole before it grew larger. After I filled the hole in the bridge, I filled many of the larger holes in the road where it runs parallel to the ditch before it got dark.

The photo on the left shows a long puddle in the road reflecting the sunset. The photo on the right shows a long puddle filled with dirt, and the water splashed to the side, reflecting the dusk.

An attempt to get Jupiter and its moons through a telescope with the iPhone*. It came out nicely abstract.

On the left are Jupiter and its moons taken at 11:30 pm last night. On the right are Jupiter and its moons taken at 6:00 am this morning. Both photos were taken with the Bazooka.

Jupiter taken with the Bazooka at 11:30 pm last night. You can almost see the patterns in Jupiter’s clouds.

Jupiter and the moon at 6:00 am this morning.

Saturn is at its peak opposition to the sun tonight. However, a storm rolled in, and the sky is overcast, so I am going to have to strike photographing Saturn tonight.

*I held my iPhone lenses to the eyepiece on the telescope. It’s difficult to align the correct lens and get a really good photo with three lenses on the iPhone. The moon came out pretty well. Jupiter was another matter.

A Chevy To Pay My Levy

The Piñon Coffee Company’s Chevy pickup at a coffee show in 2019.

I had not been to the Piñon Coffee Company’s retail outlet since before the pandemic in late 2019. I had to order coffee online at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 because they had to close their retail outlet by orders of the governor. I had continued to order coffee online since I don’t drive by their retail outlet anymore. I went out on an errand today which was near the Piñon Coffee Company. Since we needed more Mexican Spice Chocolate coffee beans, I decided to stop by the retail outlet while I was in the area. Over the past couple of years, Piñon has spruced up their retail outlet, and there’s now a Chevy to pay my levy when I collect my coffee beans in person.
