Freyja was dogging Atlas. When Tristan and Craig got Freyja, the shelter identified her as a Bernese Mountain dog. As she grew, she looked less and less like a Bernese Mountain Dog. Tristan had a doggie DNA test done on Freya, and she “Ain’t nothing but a hound dog!” †

†Below is the result of Freya’s doggie DNA test.

That is quite a mixed ancestry!
It is. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
I know some people laugh at pet DNA tests, but I did one for Bowie because I wanted to know. I think it lets pet parents know what to expect and also if there are things to look for over time.
Bowie is the cat equivalent of “hound dog.” Tristan has selected a couple of great dogs!!!
Freyja’s results were a surprise. Jake’s was what we expected, except for the little bit of Corgi. Thanks, Susan.
Probably thought it was a Bernese from the coloring. From the DNA profile, I’d say it’s more of guard dog kind. Hound dog sounds better though.
She has the body of a hound. Thanks, Danzig.
WordPress not allowing me to like on the reader again! But I love this one. Oh, after ten or twelve tries it did…
Stupid WP. Thanks, Inchie.
Here, here! Or should that be, hear, hear?
So cute 🥰
Thanks, Srikanth.
Adogably Catastic.
Hahaha! Exactly. Thanks, Cindy.
You are a kind and amazing person TImothy. I did love the story of the ‘hound dog’…
Thanks, Shey. Things weren’t as they appeared.
Fabulous pictures…..thank you for starting the week on a good note:)
You are welcome, Janet. I hope you have a wonderful week.
That’s quite a mix! But a beauty!
Happy Thanksgiving, Tim!
Thanks, Nancy. You too.
Nice family photos. A line from the original Ghostbusters comes to mind when Bill Murry mentions “cats and dogs living together . . . mass hysteria”. Though it looks like nothing of the sort based on the peaceful photos.
Cats and dogs often get along. Thanks, Brad.
Apparently one of Freyja’s primary directives is to annoy cats as much as possible with love. Atlas is the first cat that has actually tolerated this annoyance for any amount of time. The last photo was moments before Atlas started throwing punches lol.
We got Freyja in March at 13 weeks of age. She’s been an adorable puppy the entire time, and we calculated her actual birthday is December 12th. She’s a very weird dog, but also the sweetest, most loving dog I have ever met. We’ve taken to calling her the Snugglemutt. She’s got some real fun personality quirks; she loves to push her toy against your thigh or chest until you take it and throw it. She jukes at feet, and loves to zoom around outside. She once tripped an old lady at the dog park so bad that I watched the lady fall in slow motion. Finally, her other mission in life is to dump every water bucket at the dog park to make mud and put it all over her face and body like Schwarzenegger in the Predator movie.
We blame the Husky part for everything. lol.
She is a sweet dog. Thanks, Tristan.
Those are beautiful photos of Freya and Atlas, Tim. The 3% Chihuahua in her background is interesting!
The Chihuahua makes you ponder. Thanks, Lavinia.
She is 100% adorable Freya! First shot is while she prepares for the photo shoot! “Okay, are ya ready paparazzo? Here I go… Look how good I am with Atlas! An exemplary doggy!” Atlas is a bit unsure!
You are right. Freyja is a super sweet and super smart dog. She also has boundless energy. Thanks, Marina.
That look is an unmistakable indicator of the energy factor!
You know your dog looks.
yep! That’s exactly Hera’s look seconds before zooming about!
Tristan lets Freyja loose on the property and Freyja starts running around at full speed. She’s so happy when she’s having a good run.
Soon we’ll also be able to let her loose on the property. Much better than having our place rearranged with every run! 🤣😂
That will be so good for all of you.
🙏
They are so cute together! Loved the photos, Tim.
I wonder if the pet DNA tests have as many “missing markers” as the human ones. Knowing my grandfather was half Cherokee, I was confused that my results didn’t show any Native American. Then I found the small print — they don’t even try to detect it. I’m told Asian heritage has problems too, usually showing as simply “China”.
Anyhow, it’s an entertaining post. Hugs.
Thanks, Teagan. Probably lots of missing markers. I think you would have to be pretty high on the genetic totem pole to show native American if they are not testing for Native American markers.
They are so cute!!! I love how the cat is looking at the dog in the last photo. The dog DNA test looks so cool!
Thanks, Samantha. Atlas had just finished punching out Freyja in that last photo.
Awwwwww!!!!!
I THOUGHT IT WAS ALL WHOLESOME, LOL!!!!!!!!!! 🤣
So did Freyja.
Haha, hound dogs are the best.
True. Thanks, Holly.
They are generally healthier that pure breeds. I know from experience 🐶🐾🦴
Agreed.
Wow! She’s a great combo and a regular old doggie.
A sweet, energetic hound dog. Thanks, Gigi.
BEAUTIFUL.
Is the kitty name Atlas?
Yes. Thanks, Deborah.
Now that is what I call a mixed breed! Love Freyja’s brown eyebrows. So cute cuddling with the cat.
The eyebrows are the the Rottweiler in her. Thanks, Brain.
Freyja has a very interesting DNA mix. She is pretty.
Thanks, Roberta.
She is a mutt hound dog alright Tim! Love those 2 so cute together 💕so endearing
Thanks, Cindy.
I was gonna say there ain’t no Bermese Mountain Dog in her… She’s a certified Heinz 57 (give or take). She is lovely and I love that she and Atlas seem to be good friends.
Atlas punched her out when she got tired of being bothered. Thanks, Dale.
Hahaha! Still, he gave her some time, to cuddle 😉
So cute a dog and cat in one picture..
Thanks, Miss Lyn.
Are these lovely cat and dog portraits of new additions to the family?
Freyja is a relatively new addition to Tristan’s tribe. Atlas has been around for awhile. No new critters in our immediate family. Thanks, JYP.
That is one gorgeous doggie. The cat’s not to shabby either. Looks like Spunkie-Poo’s 💋 cousin.
Thanks, Resa.
It’s amazing what a DNA test can reveal! Freya may not be a Bernese Mountain Dog, but she’s still an adorable hound dog. Love her no matter the breed!
Yes it is. Freyja is a a lovable hound dog. Thanks, Stephen.
Have You link for a test?
You should do a search in your country for dog DNA test kits. The company sends you a kit and then you send back samples.
Oh wow what about that DNA test! Beautiful dog and great pics Tim
Isn’t that DNA wild? Thanks, Julie.
