      • Well…. let’s just say that, as the ferry on which the Mr was sitting green as a sail boat, neared the island of Eigg and someone shouted ‘doplins’ and everyone rushed from one where they were sitting to where he was sitting, I knew my hopes of doing Am Sgurr were dead in the water. Indeed he was lucky he wasn’t. They were lucky he never barfed all over them.

      • He was not alone. A very nice Russian family who made the huge mistake of following us to the caves, which I did not know the way to cos I never expected to bei doing them but let us jsut say that while they are on a beach they are only accesible from the headland, but I did get us all there eventually, they said, that was why so many people stand up, clinging to whatever is overhead,, cos you don’t feel so ill. . He is not a good sailer and of course we should have taken the big ferry from Mallaig but we were done driving and this little one went from across the road from the hotel. Anyway going back the weather had turned and most of the handful of us who were not staying on Eigg clung not just to the overhead pipes but the hope that the boat would right iself ever time it pitched and rolled. The laughter of the damned was loud indeed. None of that helped the Mr who was confident his last moment was coming any time now.

        • Nothing like a rough sea to make you consider last moments. Who needs a carnival ride when you can get one on the way to Eigg?
