Walter Is A Pig

Walter and Willa were out of the nest and up on the trunk of the tree tonight. They were peeping up a storm, especially Walter. Nora was a tree limb over the horse stall hooting a grocer list. At one point, I looked back at Nora and noticed she was in a different position. A few minutes later, she was feeding Walter a gopher, as shown in the above video.

I finally got Walter’s attention. “What now, you stupid paparazzo?”

Walter walking around in deep thought.

I finally got Willa’s attention. “Who’s that? Oh, hi, paparazzo!”

Dip. Flap and flutter. ¡Hasta las vista! Paparazzo!”

A Lesser Goldfinch was banging a seed on the branch to get it open and then holding it in its beak before it flew off. Click on photos to enlarge.

Willa and Walter were in the nest tonight. Willa ignored me for a long time.

“Oh! Hey there, Paparazzo! And there’s la Paparazza! Is that mama I hear?”

Dr. Grackle

Sassy Grackle strutting around on our way to Comfort, TX.

Walter and Willa were out of the nest tonight on a part of the tree where we could only see a little of the tops of their heads. I would have had to climb the fence to photograph them from where the Alpacas eat.

Reflecting The Light Fantastic

Willa had a grumpy look because Walter was out of the nest tonight. I could not get a photo of him out of the nest because of branches and leaves blocking my focus. I walked down the bank through the leaves to see if I could get a clear shot of Walter out of the nest. I couldn’t, but all the noise I made scared him, and he belly-flopped back into the nest. The second and third photos show Walter peeking around the edge of the nest. Nora Owl was hooting a grocery list for Osric, but we did not hear any response from Osric. He was still out shopping.

Mostly Birds

The Rio Grande is flowing high and fast.

This House Finch was really red in the harsh morning sun.

Walter gave me Round eyes this morning.

Willa was sleepy

Nora was sleeping this morning, as well. Osric was nowhere to be seen.

Turkey Vulture

Willa was still sleeping in the evening. Walter ducked down in the nest.

Osric was on a gate waiting for Nore to give him a shopping list.

Not only are the Alpacas shaved, wet, and cold, but the flies are also bothering them.

Our guard hummingbird followed us down to see the owls.

Feeding Cow Cats

Dawn

The above video is of Laurie, the cat herder, doing her daily routine of feeding the cow cats their grass (there is music with the video).

Walter looked grumpy, and Willa was half asleep in the morning sun.

Nora Owl look positively happy this morning. She was half-asleep with one eye closed. She must have had a good TGIF owl night out with Osric last night. I think she wore out Osric. He was nowhere to be seen.

I believe this is a Swainson’s Hawk. As shot on the left, cropped, and processed on the right.

Willa was laid back tonight. Walter kept his head down with the hawk overhead.

We did not hear or see anything of Nora and Osric tonight. They were either still hunting, or they decided to go out on a TGIF owl date.

Hey! Paparazzo! Looki. See? We need more juggin’ water! ¿Sí?

Owl Newz

Nora on the left. Hungry Willa and Walter in the middle. Osric on the right

Nora was on her branch giving sweet, higher pitched hoots to Osric, who was about 100 feet from her at the top of a tree. We figured she was giving him a grocery list.

Osric gave Nora a gopher. Hmmm! Could be a song!

When Osric brought Nora the critters, it was after dusk, so I only got a few halfway clear shots that I lightened up in post processing so we can see what the owls were up to.

Osric flew off and came back with a packrat.

My what big claws you have, Nora!

After Nora flew over to the nest, Osric flew in, dropped off the packrat in the nest and flew off. Apparently, Nora’s grocery list was for gopher and packrat.

Progression of the sunset tonight.

WARNING! WARNING! Snake photos below!

Me with Blue Boa

Many of you thought that bullsnake was huge. Now Blue is what I would call a huge snake.

I don’t believe I have ever posted a photo of myself with Blue Boa. I don’t handle her much because of my compromised immune system. The results of a recent blood test showed my white counts and absolute nuetrofils are low again. Reptiles carry salmonella, so people with compromised immune systems s should not handle them much.

Laurie took the photos. Blue Boa was squirming around a lot.

Spunk thinks he much better looking than that stinking snake.
