Horse Drawn
Nothing like a horse drawn carriage to back up traffic on Corrales Road.
Hay Girl
I don’t think this lovely scarecrow is very scary, but she does cut a good hay figure. Fall is in the air — I saw a couple of sandhill cranes fly over this morning, so I went out to the river before sunset and a small flock flew by. The problem is the river is running really high and fast, so the places they normally roost are underwater. The Martinez House got its color coat, and the cottonwoods are turning yellow.
Air Camera
You may have heard of “air guitars” or “air drums”, well, while I was using Laurie as a model to test exposures before the 60th anniversary shoot, she started using an “Air Camera” on me.
A 60th Wedding Anniversary
Yesterday was Jim and Ann Mogford’s, aka Laurie’s parents, 60th wedding anniversary, so they came over to have their photos done. They had a lot of fun cutting up in front of the camera, and they were great models. The photos are straight off the camera with very few adjustments to the raw images and no post processing.

Bubble Wrap Bomb
Fedex delivered a box with a couple of printer cartridges this afternoon. When I opened the box, the bubble wrap exploded out of the box, kind of like a jack in the box. The result actually looked quite natural on my desk. The photo on the wall is Cranes in the Mist.

I believe this is a 1956 Chevrolet Bel-Air.
Egg Sandwich
The egg sandwich I made for breakfast seemed particularly worthy of a photo. Mama Manx was walking around the yard like a kitty queen, and the answer to our morning congestion was all the smoke in the air from people burning their fireplaces (haze in last photo).
Lars the Red
I gave Laurie a gift card to get her hair colored and styled for her birthday. Since she’s studying Old Norse, her inner Viking pushed her into going for the lighter red in her hair, so now my beautiful wife is a Viking redhead. Like Gorm in the Icelandic Sagas, I might not be considered the wisest among men, but we were both wise enough to marry beautiful women. His wife, Thyri, was considered Denmark’s Adornment. My wife, Laurie, I consider my Crown Jewel of Corrales.
