Creatures in the Moonlight

DSCF1492

While walking out to the ditch to turn in the irrigation water at 2:00 am under the Harvest Moon, I saw a critter scurrying my way. Skunks don’t see very well, so it got pretty close to me before it stopped and we had a brief stand off — long enough for me to sweet talk it into letting me get a couple of photos. The skunk wasn’t sure what to think about a giant troll talking to it in the middle of the night — it stomped its front feet and stepped from side to side trying to decide whether to scurry past me, spray me or retreat. It finally decided on a compromise and ran into the tall grass on its right. Fortunately, it turned out to be an uneventful encounter, but I had a difficult time getting a clear shot of the nervous little skunk as the shutter speed was only 1/5 of a second at ƒ/1.4. On the other hand, it was easy to get a clear shot of the spider that had built its web on the irrigation gate. It held perfectly still.

Biting On The Box

DSCF1417

To the tune of Burning Down The House by the Talking Heads:

Watch out, I get what I’m goin’ after
Cool kitty, I’m strange but you are even stranger
I’m an ordinary cat
Biting on the box

Hold tight, wait ’til the string stops wiggling
Hold tight, chew on that nasty teather
There has got to be a way
Biting on the box

Here’s a tail, pack your boxes
Time for jumpin’ on the cardboard
Dragging things over here
Close enough but not too far,
I don’t know who you are
Bitin’ boxes, more boxes, meow

All wet, hey I’m chewing on this cat’s tail
Shakedown, dreams walking in broad boxes
Three hundred, sixty five teeth marks
Biting on the box

Bright Sun, Hot Women, Fun Photos

BlueHair

On my way home from having a computer tested at the Apple Store, I drove by a group of women in bikinis standing on the sidewalk holding up signs for a carwash. I made a quick U-turn, parked and got the low-down on the charity carwash ABQ-Live The Magazine was holding to raise money for the Lymphoma and Leukemia Foundation. A group of professional models were doing a great job attracting people to the event. Menaul Blvd is not the prettiest street in Albuquerque, and the light at 1:00 pm was direct and harsh, but the models were great, and I managed to get a nice set of photos of three of the beautiful women working the event. Since the model wearing cut-offs wasn’t holding a sign, she did a little extra modeling for the camera.

The Seventh Sack

DSCF1403

He opened the seventh sack, and there was silence. But soon smoke rose from the abyss as the flames blistered their skin, which crackled and popped as they rolled in the fiery furnace. From a pile of flayed bodies a beast arose.

But is it Art?

DSCF1368

Spunk has taken to killing napkins, making the world a safer place one napkin at a time, bet he also leaves napkin carcasses strewn all over the floor. Is it art?  I finally had to retire the printout of a spreadsheet I was using as a placemat on my desk at the office after it got enough coffee dribbles and tears that I couldn’t read the various notes and phone numbers I had scribbled on it. After Bruce and I decided it was too artsy for the trash can, I hung on the wall where a picture frame once hung. While most people don’t even notice it, it’s been a toss up among the people who have noticed it whether or not it’s art. After my boss finally noticed it he asked me why I had a piece of trash hanging on the wall. Sean suggested I clip the dollar bill to it. Other people have said “Hmmm! But is it art?”
