Social Disease is on Elton John’s Yellow Brick Road album, released in 1973. While I never drank, smoked, or did illegal drugs when I was a teenager (and still don’t), I loved Social Disease because I could relate to it as my peers thought I was a weirdo. Many teachers and principals told my mom I would grow up to be a no-good-for-nothing social disease. I never rebelled against my parents. I didn’t need to. They left me alone to take care of the animals and the house and irrigate the property through my teen years. But I rebelled against authority and public school. I hated both with a passion.

Loki: “Reach out and touch someone with a social disease!”

Rustic Sphinx Moth (Manduca rustica)
If you have ever wondered what hornworms (often called tomato worms) turn into, this giant Rustic Sphinx Moth (Manduca rustica) is one example. They also turn into the common Sphinx Moth or what is often called the Hummingbird Moth. The big boy was born in the catio this morning, so it’s a Euinox Rustic Sphinx Moth. Laurie saw the kitties looking interested as the moth crawled across the floor (wings not dry enough for it to fly). She snatched it up and put it outside the catio, out of reach of the cats.
Rustic Sphinx Moth on my hand for scale. It was about 3 inches long.

Loki started celebrating Equinox with a bit of catermortis. Silver and Glenda are in the background.

Geoff bitched at me last night for commenting on his photos rather quickly. I did make a quick pass through them. I can take in images rather quickly. However, I did not read anything he wrote. As I explained to him, my eyes are really messed up, so I can’t see very well to read right now. You may have noticed that I haven’t been posting the images I normally post this time of year, i.e., cranes, owls, other critters, the bosque, and the Rio Grande. With my bad eyes, I don’t feel like going out and looking for things to photograph. I’ve been working on music more than photography lately. As far as other bloggers’ posts, I can read short pieces, but I have to skim longer pieces if I read them at all. As far as a lot of bloggers’ posts I would normally comment on, I don’t comment if the posts require a lot of reading.
Anyway, took a bunch of photos today between working on music videos, watering, playing guitar, doing laundry and dishes, and hearing cats.

Spunk in the rags. Marble under a hoodie over the heater vent.

Beaker. He doesn’t like his picture taken. He keeps moving so it’s hard to get a clear shot using effects.
