The Week: June 8th — 14th

Click here —> T and L Photos Blog to see the photos and commentary for the week of June 8th — 14th 2015 at a glance.

I have been reposting old blogs from the same date in 2011 every night for the past week with a link to the current photos and commentary posted that day on my T and L Photos Blog (which is really the current Photo of the Day, Etc.); however, since I’m paid up on my WP account until the end of November, I was maintaining the WP site until the end of November 2015. So far I think the reposts from 2011 are just confusing people who think I’m back posting new photos and commentary on WordPress.  Now I’m trying to decide whether I should go ahead and transfer my photoofthedayetc domain to T and L Photosshut down the WP blog, put it out of it’s misery, and end the confusion, or wait until November. Any thoughts (staying with WordPress is not an option)?

Breakfast on the Run

DSCF9313

As there is a lot of chance on the outcome of drive-by photos — my camera focused on the buildings instead of the cyclist eating a breakfast burrito while peddling into oncoming traffic on 2nd Street. He was a good rider — he held a straight line as he peddled along with no hands. He seemed to be an interesting character and fashion statement, as well, with his dreadlocks coiled up on top of his head, full beard, bandana around is neck tucked into a dark hoodie, messenger bag, dirty kakis, and cool shades.

Paris Authentic

Does anyone remember Marcel Duchamp’s found art? The urinal he simply signed “R. Mutt 1917” was discussed it my art, art history, photo and photo history classes when I was a geography/photography student some 30 years ago. We finally got to see it in person at the Pompidou Center in Paris in June. Even though this piece was quite popular among the art professors and art students at the university, I didn’t have to hold my camera above crowds of admiring people to get a photo of Duchamp’s porcelain masterpiece, as Laurie pointed out. I could actually touch it as there were no barriers around it, alarms to set off or even a guard in the room.

Tail Wind

As we continue our adventures on the Rhône delta, a cyclist was riding down the the beach at the same time we were driving down. With the nice tail wind, we was able to ride the speed limit all the way to the beach. He was from Switzerland and was riding his bike across southern France on his way to Spain.
