Oranges are good for solstice. We went to a performance of Handel’s Messiah. The performance was at a high school auditorium. The maps app had us and other people park in the wrong lot. We walked across the huge campus with another couple in the cold to discover we could not get into the auditorium.
We walked back to our cars, and there were more people walking in. We told them to get back in their cars and drive around to the other side of the campus. One woman who was wearing large and wild-looking glasses had a folder. I asked her if she was one of the performers. She said she was.
We looked for her with her in her wild glasses on stage but didn’t see her. And then right before the Hallelujah Chorus, she walked on stage and took a seat at the timpani. While she only played on the Hallelujah Chorus and the last few movements of the Messiah, the timpani is crucial to those pieces. She was animated and entertining playing tiimpani.
Very nice TimKu.
Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
lovely little haiku, Tim: the first line drew me in: it’s such a domestic image —
Thanks, John. We went to Handel’s Messiah tonight.
Wow! that would have been a fantastic experience !!!
It was fun, but the orchestra kept dragging on, pretty annoying. Although it was entertaining watching the conductor trying to get them in compas.
Timothy writes beautifully.
Thanks, Shey.
That they do and you captured a beautiful flame, bright and blue!
Thanks, Michele.
You’re welcome! 🕯️
Beautiful TimKu.
Thanks, Dale.
That is a beautiful Timku.
Solstice has come and gone now, each one seems to arrive and leave before I can truly appreciate them.
The longest night goes by in a long flash. Thanks, Lavinia.
