Stumped

After getting “logged in” the other day, Mama Max got stumped today. Guildenstern is feeling better as you can see by his kingly pose, and Diné was looking at him like “Who do you think you are?” Rosencrantz was hacking up a hairball a few yards to the east of Diné when I did these shots. Rosencrantz is quite a hacker when it comes to producing projectile hairballs, but I figured I’d spare you the action.

Guilden Grid

IMG_1789

I took Guildenstern in for a checkup last week because he had become anxious, clingy, talkative and seemed to continuously move from one spot to another. It turns out he has hyperthyroid, so now I have to give him medicine twice a day. We just started the medicine on Friday, but he seems calmer already. When I give him his medicine, I open his mouth and quickly stick the tiny pill down his throat. It happens so fast, that he purrs and looks confused because he’s not sure about what happened. Guildenstern is only 13 years old, but that makes him an old man in kitty age. He was enjoying the afternoon sun from under the garden table, that made a nice grid pattern on him.

The X99 Test

DSCF9788

I brought home a couple of smoke damaged X99 chairs for the office. Guildenstern tested the one we will use at the sewing machine, and gave it a five out of five paws rating for kitting comfort, snoozing and all-out cat lounging.

Cat Games

While I was playing with Rosencrantz by the end of the bed, Guildenstern walked up to the edge of the bed and grabbed the stick out of my hand. He held it there while Rosencrantz watched for him to move it. When Guildenstern didn’t wiggle the string, Rosencrantz looked up at him like “Are you going to do something?” At which point Guildenstern attempted to wiggle the string, but the pole dropped from his thumbless paws. He grabbed for it, but it finally ended up on the floor.

Waiting on a Waffle/Breakfast with Guildenstern

I had to get out my 17mm, super-wideangle lens to get a photo of Beaker impatiently waiting for the waffle that’s in the toaster oven. You can see the tips of his wings are a little blurry because he is fluttering them in anticipation. Guildenstern got up on the table, flopped himself down and waited to see what Laurie was having for breakfast. He wasn’t too sure about either the granola or the coffee.

Cats in Winter

DSCF8857

What do our cats do in winter? Romeo was not sure about me taking yet another photo of him. Rosencrantz made like a kitty statue, while Guildenstern relaxed on a Viking book to see if he could soak up some Old Norse. Mama Manx dozed on a “cat magnet” blanket, and Diné got warm lying on the heater vent.

Classic Kitties & René

DSCF8583

Romeo, Tesla and Guildenstern were classic today. We went over the Lane’s house and played with Tesla and he posed for me. Then we dropped by Laurie’s parent’s house and Romeo was disgusted that we walked in smelling of Tesla. Earlier in the day we put carrot cake outside on the deck to cool, and when Laurie whispered “…don’t tell Guildenstern!” he perked right up and looked around to see what we were whispering his name for.

I took René in for his quarterly beak trim. Classical KHFM was playing an opera during our drive to the vet, and when René heard the woman’s voice he started to hoot and whistle like he does when he’s flirting with women. I found it interesting that he reacted the same way to a beautiful voice as he does to a beautiful woman.
