Blow Me Down

The wind started blowing hard at 8:00 PM last night and didn’t let up until 7:00 PM this evening.

A wave of clouds crashing over the Sandias this evening.

“Hey, Paparazzo! We need the jug topped off!”

“Know you don’t, Silver!”

“Hey! What’s up with you, Loki?”

“Oh Lord, hear my prayer. May Loki do a little choki!”

“Keep looking the other way, Loki!”

“Hahahaha! You got your tongue stuck, Silver?”

No C or C, only C, and C

No clouds or contrails anywhere to be seen. What is one to do? What is one to do?

Jupiter and the crescent moon were in the Tangle Heart Tree.

Cranes

Coyote, Wile E., that is, was hanging out with us again.

Looks like il Paparazzo put out some cheez! Yeah! What are you going to do about it?

You gonna eat that pizza, Paparazzo?

Happy Valentine’s Day

Lyrics and music by Timothy Price

I thought my latest song, Dick Meets Jane, would be good for Valentine’s Day. Lyrics are at the end of the post.

I have to admit, I hated Valentine’s Day and the “Dick and Jane” books when I was a kid. Valentine’s Day was humiliating, and the “Dick and Jane” books represented a culture that was polar opposite of mine. Something I read triggered the lyrics for the song quite a while ago. With Valentine’s Day approaching, I decided to put them to music.

Dawn

Crescent Moon in the Tangle Heart Tree.

First beaver sighting of 2024

Can you find the pTerodactyl?

Canadian Geese landing in the Rio Grande.

Kissy cranes

Déjà vu all over again!

It looks like the pTer is missing some feathers on his wing. Or perhaps he was given the “Black Spot” by the other pTerodactyls à la “Treasure Island.”

Dick Meets Jane
By Timothy Price

[Verse 1]
I was reading on the trolley when I looked up to see
A Goddess of a woman standing right next to me
I stood and kindly offered her my seat
She blushed as she sat, and I tried not to stare
Inviting were her amber eyes, and her smile was so sweet
Was it our destiny that we should meet?

[Chorus]
Oh Lord, must you do this to me?
You temp me with this lovely Lass
Don’t you know that I am just way too plain
Am I another player in her game?

[Verse 2]
We got off at the same stop “Thanks for giving me your seat
My name is Jane. Who are you? May I ask?”
“So nice to meet you, Jane. Funny, you should ask.
My name is Richard, but people call me Dick!”
“Dick and Jane!” We both laughed “Are we like the storybook?”
We joined hands and skipped along
She sang an unfamiliar song

[Chorus]
Oh Lord, must you do this to me?
You temp me with this lovely Lass
She’s a beauty and so divine
Is this an act? Will she be mine?

[Bridge]
We ducked into a Starbucks
Espressos straight-up and black
“May I have your number, Dick?”
“I’m free can you take me out?”
YES! “Yes! You’re a dream come true.”

[Outro]
We dated, and we courted. We fell in love, I proposed
As Dick and Jane, we got married. Two together apropos
We are like a storybook. Lives perfectly aligned
Together, we live in bliss, Happily and so divine

[Chorus]
Oh Lord, I’m happy you did this to me
Tempted with this lovely Lass
Now that all my prayers are answered
We are living our dream at last

Landings

Dawn

There are a lot of photos in this post, starting with the light changes throughout the day and ending with the Sandhill cranes preparing for landing and landing. Don’t forget to click on the galleries to see the photos enlarged and in a slideshow.

Middle of the day

Bald Eagle with my iPhone

Dramatic Light

Color changes on the Sandias at sunset.

I got a quick snap of the crescent moon before the clouds swallowed her.

I was hoping for a shot of the crescent moon in the Tangle Heart Tree, but the clouds had swallowed the moon.

More drama near darkness.

Black lace trees in the yellow afterglow at dusk.

Cranes preparing to land under a fiery sky.

Intermission

Frosted Flake

Venus, the Moon, and I rose at the same time this morning.

Twenty-four degrees
I stood out in my skivvies
Like a frosted flake

Venus and the Moon shapeshifted through the glass.

The various crescents are moonlight fractured by condensation on the glass. Venus made some mean-looking faces.

Back to normal

Venus and the Moon at dawn.

Lower left to top: Orion, Kiss Flying-V, and The Pleiades. Top right: Jupiter.

Brad mentioned seeing The Pleiades in yesterday’s photo meant Orion was not far behind. I’ve taken many photos with Orion in them recently, but I haven’t posted Orion in a while.

Hooteluja!

Dawn

Sunset on Sandias

While taking the above photo of the Sandias in red, I heard a buzzing noise. I turned to see what it was and three paragliders were flying my way.

Moon and contrail at dusk

While I was photographing the moon and contrail, I heard an owl hooting close by. I investigated further and there was an owl perched on the edge of the nest I hung in Susan’s tree in August 2022. Hooteluja! Hooteluja! Hooooteluuuja!

It was dark, and I had to use 15x digital zoom on my phone’s camera, so I couldn’t tell if it was daddy owl. It could be one for the owlets from a few years ago out house shopping. Whichever owl it is, it’s a good sign to see an owl perched on the edge of the nest.
