The Longest Mile

Well! Five point seven/eights miles to be more precise. While it’s only a mile and a half between mile marks as the river flows, and the treks to the river and back, plus all the winding around on different paths in the bosque added up. This was the longest walk Jake has made with me since he moved in.

One

Beaver point is at the 194.5 mile mark

Surprisingly, I saw a dragonfly. The temperature was around 48º F (~9º C).

Two

The Portal to Seven. Seems all portals look the same!

Seven

Jake recharged his pee-shoot in the Rio Grande by a cocklebur bush at the 194-mile marker.

Eight

Søren seemed impressed. Or not!

Spunk: “Why take a stinking 6-mile walk in the bosque when you can lounge in fresh-dried underwear?”

Silver: “Whoa! I can’t beieve you made Jake walk that far!”

Jake was a little slow after his long mile, and got caught in the skeeter net again.

A couple of women were walking five dogs and let two loose to chase the coyotes. Jake was not happy about those dogs chasing his coyote pals.

Fungus Among Us

Dawn is a little darker every morning. Soon it will be nighttime, awaiting dawn. Venus shines on the right, above the clouds.

Loki

It’s been wet enough to get some fungus among us!

Glenda

A dark and cloudy dawn persisted throughout the day.

Spunk: “I believe ‘il fungo tra noi è il paprazzo!'”

Coyote Dawn

When Jake and I went out for a walk at dawn, the first critters we encountered when we walked out onto the ditch bank were a couple of coyotes.

Sandias and geese in the mist again.

Balloons on the rise

Clouds splashing over the sandias eventually brought rain. We have 2/10 of an inch so far.

Sandias were still socked in

Mystery Kitty

Geese @ dawn

This kitty has been hanging around, fighting with our cats through the wire in the catio, for quite a while. The first time I saw this kitty several months ago, I was awakened by him fighting with Silver at 2:00 a.m. I stumbled out into the catio to see what was going on. I looked up to see this kitty looking down at me through the wire at the top of the catio. Seeing it in the darkness when I was half awake, it really looked like Spunk. I said, “Spunk! How did you get outside?” The kitty simply stared at me. I went back inside to put on shoes so I could go outside and collect Spunk, but there Spunk was on the bed.

40 Hours

The wee hours of the morning.

A pretty pine cone

Jake put in 40 hours at the office this week. All the staff loved Jake; he got so much attention he was worn out by early afternoon today.
