A 70th Anniversary

We celebrated Jim and Ann’s (Laurie’s parents) 70th wedding anniversary today.

We had a shindig

Jim with his Studebaker convertible. Ann wearing the dress she got married in.

Jim was in the Navy in San Diego in 1953. He didn’t want to have a blood test before they could get married, which was required in California, so they drove to Yuma, Arizona, to get married because pre-nuptial blood tests were not required in Arizona.

Happy 70th Anniversary!

Burned

My Canon sun filter got burned by the sun.

I had not tested my Canon sun filter for the Bazooka before the eclipse. I should have. Since it fits at the back of the lens, the sun simply burned through it. I used an old iPhone 6 with a single lens to photograph the eclipse through the eyepiece of my telescope. I didn’t have time to mess with putting a camera on the telescope, plus people wanted to look through the telescope because the clarity was amazing.

Since I had to move the iPhone around on the eyepiece for each photo, the GIF is a bit jumpy.

From the bazooka at ring time

The color of the sun becomes whiter as the eclipse advances because the phone’s camera overexposed the sun because of the dark side of the moon.

Udderly Amazing

I went to the field this morning, which gives you a different perspective on the balloons and the crowd. Since it was Tuesday, the number of people was about half of what they get on the two Saturdays and Sundays.

Abobe upgraded Bridge, Photoshop, and Camera Raw, and I got errors opening most of my photos. I finally gave up on troubleshooting the issue and processed the images in On1 Photo Raw.

Paper Doll

Boogapony Holly with five outfits, hat, and shawl.

Resa at Graffiti Lux Art & More celebrated her 1500th post on Sunday. The post is full of wonderful drawings of Boogapony Holly, Holly’s poetry, her sister Boogalu Lulu, and excellent music videos, all telling a bit of history along the way. Boogapony Holly is one of Resa’s characters based on Holly at House Of Heart. Holly is one of my favorite poets. Holly is a doll.

Speaking of dolls, one of the coolest features of the post is a paper doll of Boogapony Holly and five outfits, a hat, and a shawl that you can print, cut out the doll and clothing, and try the different outfits on Boogapony Holly.

I printed out the doll and clothes, mounted the doll on cardstock so she could stand, cut out the clothing, and tried the different outfits on Boogapony Holly. They fit perfectly. I was so impressed with Resa’s skill and genius that I photographed Boogapony Holly in each of her outfits. There is one close shot and one shot with a background added for each outfit. The balloon photos are from Sunday’s mass ascension.
