Bloody Moon Shot

45CU2858

I woke up at 1:50 am, stumbled out of bed and checked the moon, which was bloody red. I grabbed my camera, ran outside into the sub-freezing, 20º F temperature, and took a few shots at the moon. The reflections off the filter on my lens, together with my state of being at 1:55 am produced some pretty funky photos of the full lunar eclipse in the wee hours of the morning. Earlier in the evening I had gone out and photographed the moonrise and got a decently clear closeup of the full moon.

Dump Day Drive By’s

DSCF9650

I took a load of junk to the dump this morning and got drive by’s on the way home. The second photo is seagulls foraging through the trash after a bulldozer mixed it up. I couldn’t get close enough to get really clear shots of the seagulls, but they really are seagulls in the high desert, not just trash blowing around.

Cookies

DSCF9500

Laurie made batches of delicious chocolate chip cookies. For a while it looked like they were going to go on forever. If you have not used SILPAT cooking mats, they are wonderful — nothing sticks to them.

Killer Cookies

Cookies

Giving new meaning to the phrase “one tough cookie” or a gang of tough cookies, in this case, this plate exploded as the cookies were being thawed out in the microwave. Curiously, the plate pieces were too hot to touch, while the cookies themselves were still cold.
