A Skeleton Staff

Staff are so hard to find these days. Vanessa dug up a skeleton for us—one benefit of having a graveyard down the road. While not the most productive staff, skeletons are good at mindless tasks.

Duo Cheezo

When Glenda eats cheese, she licks as much out or more of the dish as she eats. I put the dish I use to cover the cheese in front of Glenda to catch her mess and put it back into the bowl when she’s done. Loki figured out he could eat Glenda’s spillover instead of butting in on Marble’s cheese. When Marble was finished, Silver joined Loki.

“Hey Loki Loki Loki! Hey Loki Loki Loki!” “I say there! You, you’re like bothering me, Glenda Girl.”

“You get where I’m coming from, Glenda Girl?”
She can’t talk with her mouth full, Loki!
“Stupid Paparazzo! I can’t take it. I just can’t bear to look! Or is it bare to look? Or a bare look! It’s like that age-old kitty conundrum, ‘Do you bare your soul or bear your soul?’ Maybe it’s like if you have a hot soul, you bare it, and if you have a grizzly soul, you bear it. Again, I can’t bear or bare it. I’m so confused.”

Silence From The Frogs Featuring Teagan

Silence From The Frogs (Featuring Teagan Riordain Geneviene on Vocals)

Teagan was gracious enough to lend her beautiful voice to another of my original songs, Silence From The Frogs. I first published Silence Of The Frogs as a poem in 2017 while blogging on T & L Photos. I made the poem into a song in the summer of 2022. I first published the song with my vocals in February 2023. Teagan’s voice is a vast improvement over mine.

The tree trimmers cut the branch that fell on the powerline off the powerline but left it in the bamboo, still pulling down on the phone line. I have to duck under the phone line when I go out and in the gate. The tree trimmers worked late into the night, trimming the trees back from the powerlines and cutting the fallen branch off of it.

Zipper Season

High winds from this storm last night broke a huge branch off Teagan’s tree, pulled the lower powerline to within inches of our fence, and the lines started arching in the trees. My neighbor alerted me of the problem early this morning. Fire department staff stood out and watched the cottonwoods south of the broken branch catching fire and going out from the arcing powerline into late afternoon before the tree trimmers showed up to cut the tree back.

The branch is on the right. It’s hard to see between the irrigation ditch and our fence in the bamboo. The branch is about 12 inches (30.48 cm) thick.

A zipper spider blocked one of the deck doors last night. She had packed up and moved on when I checked on her this morning.
