Walk @ Sunrise

Night sky

Jake and I went on a walk at sunrise

I was photographing this Downy Woodpecker as he worked his way around the power pole, making all kinds of noise. He flew as soon as he saw me.

Smoke From A Distant Fire

The Sandias and the City of Albuquerque covered by smoke from the Trout Fire in the southwesten part of the state near Silver City this morning.

It was a hot one. The high today was supposed to be 102º F (38.9º C), but on the street it was 117º F (47.2º C) according to my car’s thermometer that records the outside temperature.

I found new Spunk Art when I got home this afternoon.

Jake and I went out for a walk at golden hour. The afternoon breezes had cleared out the smoke that covered the Sandias this morning.

Jake’s Dream

I answered a phone call a few weeks ago:

Me: “¡Dígame!”

Caller: “This is the Corrales Fire Chief. This is not an Emergency! Do you have a few minutes to talk?”

Me: “Yes!”

CFC: “Someone named Jake requested we install a fire hydrant on your road. Do you know who Jake is?”

Me: “Jake’s my dog!”

CFC: “Oh! Ok! That makes sense. I guess.”

Me: “Jake loves the fire hydrant on the west side of the drainage ditch.”

CFC: “[A slight chuckle] Your neighbors on Dixon Road gave us right-of-way across the eastern edge of their property for us to install a fire hydrant on the north side of your road. The hydrant will be half way between your house and the house at the top of the road. Can we have permission to face it toward your road and have access to it from your road?”

Me: “Of course. Jake will be a happy dog to have a fire hydrant much closer to our house!”

CFC: “I suppose he will. Thank you! Bye!”

Me: “¡Adiós!”

Jake’s new fire hydrant waiting for it’s first peemail message.

New Cat Stairs

Lonely Dove at sunrise

I replaced the cat stairs on the wall for the cats to get to the hammocks with two sets of prefab kitty stairs. The previous stairs I built from scrap would was made of mohagany. Belafante started to perch on the kitty stairs and chew on the wood. Mohagany in poisonous, so I repaced the stairs with a nno-toxic white wood. It was much less expensive to buy prefab kitty stairs than build new stairs from scratch.

More Rain

Dwan

We have received 0.44 inches of rain over the past three days. That’s as much rain as we received in the past three months.
