Adam and Marissa

IMG_8951

Adam is leaving for boot camp next week, and will serve in the Army for the next three years. He brought is girlfriend, Marissa, with him to the photo session, and although she was reluctant to get in front of the camera, she turned out to be a delightful model. Marissa is studying mechanical engineering at UNM. Rosencrantz had to get in action, of course!

Middle March

PurpleCrocus1

Here we are nearly to the middle of March and the temperature was 15 degrees F this morning at our house. Despite the frosty mornings, the crocus are blooming and the tulips are poking through the mulch, teasing us with anticipation of their first blooms.

Morning Glow

DSCF6229

I was awakened by a pink glow — by the time I got outside with my camera the pinks were turning into reds and yellows. The sky and clouds were interesting throughout the day.

Dog & Pony…

TheHorse1

On my way back from photographing the sunset in the bosque, I stopped to photograph the horses in the soft light at dusk.  My buddy, Turbo, came out to say hi, and wanted to be included in the photo session as well.

The Eagle & The Crows

TheEagleCrows

While I was out at the river at sunset, the bald eagle flew by high along the opposite bank of the river. As it passed the face of the Sandias, it caught up with a flock of crows. A few crows fell in behind the eagle at first, then the crows’ flight became more chaotic as the eagle flew through them. Five cranes flew close to me at dusk, they probably couldn’t see me in the low light, and the high ISO produced interesting images. The Sandias turned a nice “watermelon” pink tonight.

T-House Down

THouseDown

When the old Territorial House burned on July 23, 2012, I was saddened by the damage to the historic landmark I had grown up with, worked on, and even performed in. The demolition started last week and the first two photos show all that was left of it at 8:00 am this morning. I took the last photo of the orange barrels on my way to class this afternoon as I imagined the stormy sky marked the time that the last vestiges of the T-House were dumped in a trucked to be hauled away. The site where the 213 year old hacienda once stood was vacant and scraped clean when I passed by on my way home tonight.

Never STOP Loving

DSCF6051

Our new neighbors pointed out the the “Never” and “Loving” on the stop sign at the post office was the only graffiti they had seen in Corrales, and it was positive. It’s been there for months so either the Village or the PO can’t decide whose responsibility it is to remove it or since it’s not offensive there is no reason to remove it. I had ignored it all this time, but tonight I thought it was appropriate to start off the week of Valentine’s Day. I also noticed that people are putting up “Valentine’s lights” in the fashion of Christmas lights in Corrales. Out of the lights I noticed on my way home tonight, the bicycle with flowers was the most interesting.

A silver chopper was parked in front of Cafe Giuseppe this afternoon, but it was blocked by a planter and a truck, so I only got a portion of it. I would of had to stand out in the middle of the street to get the whole of it, but I was loaded down with stuff and had deadlines that precluded risking getting ran over by a bus for another view of a chopper.

Light of Rose

Cleaning out a travel trailer this morning, I found an old scale and iron that made for a nice vintage B&W photo. We had strong winds all day today that blew clouds overhead. At one point the clouds were thick and low, and looked like they might produce a little rain, but alas no, only cold, dry wind.
