Jake’s Dream

I answered a phone call a few weeks ago:

Me: “¡Dígame!”

Caller: “This is the Corrales Fire Chief. This is not an Emergency! Do you have a few minutes to talk?”

Me: “Yes!”

CFC: “Someone named Jake requested we install a fire hydrant on your road. Do you know who Jake is?”

Me: “Jake’s my dog!”

CFC: “Oh! Ok! That makes sense. I guess.”

Me: “Jake loves the fire hydrant on the west side of the drainage ditch.”

CFC: “[A slight chuckle] Your neighbors on Dixon Road gave us right-of-way across the eastern edge of their property for us to install a fire hydrant on the north side of your road. The hydrant will be half way between your house and the house at the top of the road. Can we have permission to face it toward your road and have access to it from your road?”

Me: “Of course. Jake will be a happy dog to have a fire hydrant much closer to our house!”

CFC: “I suppose he will. Thank you! Bye!”

Me: “¡Adiós!”

Jake’s new fire hydrant waiting for it’s first peemail message.
