We celebrated Jim and Ann’s (Laurie’s parents) 70th wedding anniversary today.

We had a shindig

Jim with his Studebaker convertible. Ann wearing the dress she got married in.
Jim was in the Navy in San Diego in 1953. He didn’t want to have a blood test before they could get married, which was required in California, so they drove to Yuma, Arizona, to get married because pre-nuptial blood tests were not required in Arizona.

On their way to Yuma, AZ, to get married.

La Familia: Liz, Lea, Ann, Jim, Lane, and Laurie.

Happy 70th Anniversary!
They’re such an amazing couple! It was super fun being apart of such a lovely gathering ^_^

Oh this is so special Tim. Thanks for sharing this wonderful celebration. My mom had a similiar outfit your MIL was married in and I still have it hanging in our halloween costume closet. It is so cool. 💖
She still has that dress in her closet. Thanks, Cindy.

Thanks, Herman.
How utterly amazing. And lovely pics. &0 years??? My lord that is soemthing.
Especially these days. Thanks, Shey.
Abso. Sometimes it’s 80 minutes and then one looked squint at the other or something.
I had a friend whose mom’s hobby was getting married and divorced. She was into 8 it seemed. The longest marriage was 8 years, the short was was 8 hours, and after her 8th marriage she just started living with guys until she got tired of them and threw them out.
Oh she beats afamily member hands down. At least their first lasted 8 weeks. What I don’t get about that one and some similars is that they lived together for like 2 years…..
then there was marriage 2. Everyone could see the guy had problems that weren’t going away but no no, she was going to change him. . . .
The Change Challenge is very prevalent in women, and some men get into it, too. What I have told friends who want to take up the Change Challenge is men rarely change, but women are always going through changes.
I guess the tie that binds was too binding.
Yeah, but again tahta was another one tht went on for years. As for the change, you are so right, isntead of trying to change someone, jsut go and find that someone who doesn’t need changed to suit whatever.
It’s weird to want to change someone to fit one’s needs. But then finding a good fit isn’t easy, either.
I know. But if you saw the presnt fit with this person…well….. I sometimes think there is such a thing as doing without…
I’ve know too many of those type couples.
That is why I am glad we are quite anti-social actually . . . .
I’m happy someone likes that fact.
Lol…Oh we are very sociable, just choosy re only having a few friends.. . . . . . In taht respect we are openly anti social.
How wonderful….and they look amazing:). Happy anniversary
Thanks, Janet.
Well done to everyone! What a great party.
It was. Thanks, Couriers.
Congratulations to them both. My wife and I have a way to go yet.
Thanks, Danzig.
What a milestone!!!
Yes, not much sleeping here.
Thanks, Elisabeth.
How lovely! Such a beautiful celebration. Congratulations to Anne and Jim!
Thanks, Nancy.
Awww…. Happy 70th! Wow, a Platinum Anniversary! A lifetime…
Their smiles are as beautiful today as 70 years ago. That means so much.
Thanks, Marina.
OH how wonderful… Such happy photos and memories.. Congratulations to Jim and Ann… Such a great Photo of both of them.. ❤ xx
Thanks, Sue.
Congratulations to the happy couple! 70 years of marriage calls for a shindig of epic proportions!
It certainly does. Thanks, Liz.
You’re welcome, Tim.
That is definitely worth celebrating! So lovely that you were all able to celebrate with this shindig 🙂
Most definitely. Thanks, Dale.
Happy 70th to Jim and Ann! 70 years together deserves a shindig, for sure. Those are wonderful family pictures, Tim and Laurie. Precious times.
Thanks, Lavinia.
That’s a big one, congratulations to the happy couple! ❤
Thanks, Tiffany.
Happy 70 to Laurie’s mom and dad. And, to have a shindig too. End of the month, Oct 30 would have been the 70th for our grandma and grandpa (daddy’s parents) too. I’m sure we would have done something special too. Nana and papa (mommy’s parents) celebrated their 70th in September 2019. Maddie insisted, Bella who is directing manager of the restaurant, pulled together the celebration. Mommy made her famous marinara sauce (she knows it’s not Greek). Laurie made something decadent in chocolate for the after-party.
So, how do you fit in, again? LOL 😉
There’s some longevity in our families. Good question. Thanks, Deborah.
It must be something about the early 1950s that made them extra special, a good time to start. Laurie must have found something mesmerizing about you, at least to say, “Tim is the one.”
O/T: We’re at the office. One of the neighbors is putting in new gutters. One of the work crew is wearing a ZZ-Top beard.
ZZ Top beards happen. Speaking of long white beards, have you been following Leland Sklar’s updates on Maureen, who broke a vertebrae in Spain? What a terrible ordeal they have been through. He’s surprised how bad Spanish medicine is. I’m not, having dealt with it.
Yes, I’ve seen his updates. What a horrible experience. I’m glad they’re back home and Maureen can get proper treatment. Sounds like she has some excellent specialists working on her case. You do not want to get sick or hurt overseas. When Liam Neeson’s wife got badly hurt in a ski accident, he was rushing her to Boston. If he took her to Toronto, she wouldn’t have been seen at all in the emergency department. Sadly, Liam’s wife passed away on the way to Boston. I’ll take our overly expensive medicine anytime, insurance or no insurance.
What a milestone! Beautiful
Thanks, Miriam.
Oh wow, how exciting! Congrats!
Thanks, JYP.
💏
Thanks, Christine.
Now, that’s true love!
Thanks, Dawn.
