    • I believe hotdogs are involved somehow, but I don’t know either. I didn’t ask the guy. Thanks, Susan!

    • It is confusing. My main photo blog is at http://photos.tandlphotos.com/blog. I moved from WordPress to my photo site in 2014. There is lots of stuff on WordPress from 2011 to Feb 2014.

Now I just put a link to the posts at tandlphotos in WordPress to make it easier for followers on WP to get to my posts. Unless I post a GIF (the photo site doesn’t support animated GIFs), I only post a thumbnail photo on WordPress. I used to post a larger photo as the teaser on WP, but people thought that was it, and would miss a whole story and a lot of photos, because they didn’t click on the photo or the link to the photo blog in WP.

        • I’ve had Zenfolio as my photography site since 2009. It did not have a blog function when I moved from CaringBridge (long story) to blogspot in 2010 and then to WordPress in 2011.

I never really liked WordPress very much. I have to do a lot of processing after the processing of my photos to make them small, but still look good on-line, plus add a signature to each photo on WP because there is no photo security unless you build a WP site on a separate server or pay for whatever non-service/support WP is going to give you. I already pay for zenfolio and their support is super.

WP is always changing things and, from my perspective, making it more difficult to put together posts. Since I live in an area with stone age Internet service, WP has gotten slower and slower for me with it’s various updates. It’s so slow that it got where it took way too much time to put a post together. Zenfolio is fast and easy for me to work with.

Currently it takes almost as much time for me to add a title, paste a link to zenfolio, load the 10kb thumbnail photo, add a link to it and publish the post on WP as it does to put the whole post together and publish it on Zenfolio (I have all the photos processed and the words written before I assemble them for a post on Zenfolio. Same when I did complete posts on WP). There is also a fair amount of cursing involved with posting the teaser on WP.

          • We have such different experiences of it then, as I don’t seem to have any of those problems, I have 3 blogs on here, 2 free and one I piad for, and when I’ve needed help I’ve always got through on their ‘chat’ service and been sorted but I do have fast internet so that helps. I host my photo’s on Smugmug and use the URL’s from them there so knocking up a post doesn’t take very long. Nice to know about alternatives though! Cheers Tim.
