My place holder when I first set up Photo of the Day, Etc., getting ready to switch from Caring Bridge, was a photo I call Cranes in the Mist. A year later I got geese in the mist. On December 1st, Photo of the Day, Etc. will be a year old.
We have cranes and geese all over the place out here. Many stay through the winter. The blue heron is not as common, and hard to photograph, but I finally got a decent photo on Friday morning, see Saturday’s blog.
Geese are pretty common here, cranes are not resident here but the heron just visited my back garden yesterday, gotta few nice close ups, made in my bedroom from behind the curtains. But the heron is pretty much scared of humans …. for some reason …………………………..
I’m not sure why the herons are so skittish. Maybe it’s because they are out of their elements here and where you are. I’ve read that they are considered common pests in some parts of the US.
Great photos
youve got good wildlife down there, cranes I never see here, only heard them a yes ago moving south

I love theese three photos for the beautiful fall colors, the mist on the water and of course, the geese in their element; so beautiful.
Hard to believe a year for POTD is almost upon us. I certainly look forward each day to see what view of the world you are sharing with us!
